Thank goodness at last we can access Cyprus 44 again. Now that our 12 months contract is finished, we have been able to say GOODBYE to Extend the providers who only occasionally provide the service they have accepted payment for. 1000 characters would not nearly be enough to say just how poor the service from Extend Broad-band has been in our experience, no customer awareness exists in any of the departments we have had dealings with. Just delighted to say goodbye to them.

I am with Extend and have now been for nearly 3 years. They give a good interupted service normally, however the last 2 months has been a nightmare only because I could not access cyprus44 but have now discovered (me being a bit slow) that i can get onto this web site through a proxy service (think thats the correct wordage) so will probably stay with them.

I have only been with Extend for 3 weeks, but having come from 3G I am more than happy with the service !!

To be serious, I am happy with my current service. Upload and download speeds are more than sufficient for my needs. I have only suffered one outage which lasted for about an hour.

Admittedly there is a problem with the connection to Cyprus 44, however I am not convinced that this is solely Extends fault and beside which I can simply use a proxy server.

Regards

Paul

Have been with Ayza Net and Extend since it started and now have very few problems. A question for Mr. Cadman. You have strong opinions on many subjects concerning TRNC but where do you live. Not here I think!

OldDogs,

No I don't anymore. Spent 4 years in the TRNC and had to leave or starve. We opted to leave, cut our losses and returned to the UK.

Now I have a stable income and am able to live. For example, my Electric Bill is £40 a month. In the TRNC it was £100 a month. My food bill (2 adults and 2 teenage children) in the TRNC was £500 a month. In the UK it is £250 a month. When we first moved to the TRNC everything was half the cost of the UK, but it soon rose to equal and then went over UK costs. In the end the profit we made out of the sale of the villa, put us back to where we were when we moved to the TRNC. We ploughed £180,000 into the TRNC and left with £180,000. Thank god our villa increased in value by 75% since we bought it.

As for Internet Service Providers I had them all. Finally in my last 12 months I found Nethouse was the only provider who could offer me the service I wanted. It transpired that the others didn't have local base stations and so the signal was to weak.

Hello Peeps

Timothy you are being brave enough to say what most here wont admit well done and you sold your villa just before the market here totally collapsed there are plenty trying to sell and escape but cant

Old dogs, Timothy Cadman used to be a frequent poster most very useful unlike some of the one line crap we get on here, and when he left the island there were several not so good internet providers however most of them have improved with the passing of time,

If you think that Internet speeds in TRNC are poor, take a look at this: -

Hi hazelnut & Tasgirl,

who is your ISP now, then ? You both have given up on Extend, it seems?

I'm with SunnyCyprus and they also have had some problems recently but now it is working fine!

Would appreciate some "positive" feedback !

cheers

Nigel

Spoke with Bortec today and seemingly the problem over the past 10 days has been with the telephone lines.

They are being renewed and there has been problems but hopefully it will be resolved by next week??

Extend seams OK now for accessing the board. We have been with them apart from a small sojourn onto 3G for 4 years.

And to Timothy Cadman 250 a month for food for 4 people i certainly wouldn't want my Xmas dinner at your house you must be eating gruel twice a day.

I have been with Extend from it started January 2004 ( different name then ) and there have been little blips now and then but am quite happy with the service.

Listening to others who are with different providers it would appear that they ( the providers ) all have their moments when they have problems.

When there has been a problem it has been resolved very quickly so am quite happy with the service.

Sunny Cyprus are ok at the moment, speeds dropped a lot over the last weeks, now back to "normal". Although, having paid for 750kb connection,I've never seen this when doing speed tests.
