Oh Sam, rain or thunderstorm amy afffect the signal for a minute or so but not any longer. The chances are that water got into the LNB, the gadget in the middle of the dish with the wire coming out of it. Have you moved the receiver recently? You may have dislodged the connections. Make sure they are properly in place.

We lost ours for a while but it is back now. If you still haven't, try taking the card out and then putting back in again.
