What sort of freedom loving society imposes name changes to main avenues against the wishes of 97% of polled local rsidents and businesses?

Athalassa in Strovolos is due to be renamed Papadopoulos in honour of the late revered rejectionist president whose greatest achievement was to nix the Annan plan.

The local mayor is against the measure but it is set to forced through tonight at a council meeting.



Elsewhere orthodox clerics priests and others have been disrupting a bi-annual inter faith conference in Pathos and yesterday threatened a RC priest who was about to perform a wedding in an adjacent orthodox church. This despite the fact he had the full backing of the black hats to perform such functions.



The wedding was cancelled.
