| For those of you who require to have their KKTC driving licences renewed, which I did today in Girne,(thank you for those that gave me the directions as to where the office was) also note that in addition to your old licence and passport number you require 2 photos. Plus it costs 300TL for a 5 year period!!!! |

| Wow, that's a bit of a shock. I am sure we didn't pay anything like that, and I got a 10 year one. And no mug shot. As to what they look like, they are bigger than the U.K one, but are 'credit card' size, more or less. Of course with a photo they could be bigger. |

| We got ours Jan 3 years ago, credit card size with photo - but it certainly wasnt 300tl - wonder when it went up? |

| It was 501 TL for 10 years in September... We've renewed ours twice (2006 & 2009) and they asked for new photos both times. |

| have just paid 150 tl for a two year one, think it was 82 tl 2 years ago. one local explained that like most other government contolled things, prices have been inflated as the country is skint, spent all of turkeys handouts and are now being told to support themselves, so we pay the price. another trnc cash cow. one lady was furious that the driving school up the road chaged her 50 tl to sort her licence for her and claimed it was to cover the cost of going to lefkosa! they then went to girne tax office, very cheeky. also, only renewals can be done in tax office. |

| KKTC driving licence rates as follows. 1 year 100 TL, 2 years 150.20 TL, 3 years 200.30 TL,5 years 300.50 TL,and 10 years 501 TL. Licence takes 3 weeks to come through. If you think you are staying or living a further 10 years then thats the best option!! |

| You can on a Tourist Visa, up to 30 days I think but I'm probably wrong! I think you also need your Residence Permit before you can apply for a local driving licence. |

| i think so but they give you the slip of paper which you use to collect the new one, you show this paper to the old bill if they stop you which shows you have applied for the new one |

| Did i understand correctly Shadders you can only RENEW driving license in the tax office. Where do you apply for your very first one then.
We called in the tax office last week,they gave us 2 green forms to complete. Came away feeling v pleased with ourselves
Sat down once home to fill our forms in, on taking a closer look of course it's all in Turkish.
What were we expecting !!!? Where did we think we were!!? Two red faces!! |

| You can drive for 90 days then need to get your TC licence. My hubby's took just 1 week to come through, the woman in the office was very helpful, she told us what to write in which boxes and she did the rest. |
