'Bagis had a breakfast with representatives of media organizations in Brussels, Belgium and strongly reacted to EP's draft resolution that called on Turkey to withdraw its soldiers from Cyprus immediately to support ongoing negotiations, open Maras region to the Greek Cypriots, and solve the problem Turkish citizens settled in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) were causing.'

Oh Dear..

>>"The political groups in the EP are trying to please the Greek and Greek Cypriot parliamentarians," Bagis told journalists. <<

If this is TR's EU man's interpretation.. then I fear for Turks :(

Since when do you think Greek Cypriots have such 'support' ? Come on AJ, this is an excuse to keep TR out

..As you know, I want TR in, and TR should stop 'pussy footing' around - obey the 'Ankara Accord it signed - and allow 'rump RoC planes to overfly and land, and RoC registered ships to enter TR ports...allowing all EU accession 'chapters' to reopen..

Hi Hans,

Not just what I want.. it would stop all those with agendas to keep TR out if the EU ...

I sometimes think some folk on here might not want TR 'in' for reasons of how it would effect them, rather than the 70million plus Turks who would benefit ;)

ARRRRGH!

The second time in a week I find I have to agree with sixems!

I really can't see any downside politically, economically or strategically for the TR to open its ports and airports to the ROC. What I can see, though, is a massive leap in the elevation of the moral high ground the TR would gain if they did so.

It would be almost unanswerable by the ROC.
