TURKISH Cypriot politicians who hold Cypriot passports could soon be crossing the buffer zone to sue newspapers for publishing their personal data, it emerged yesterday.

They are Cypriots and might want to use a Cypriot passport not a Turkish passport for international travel.

None the less not nice having your details published.

Or to put it more bluntly, an EU passport in order to avoid all the visa hassles associated with a Turkish passport. As far as I could work out the personal details were photo and name, including those of members of their families. This hardly counts as personal details. It's just embarrassing for the Ministers who by accepting RoC passports would be theoretically recognising the legitimacy of that government. It's all getting a bit silly at the moment.

Carrying the passaport doesnt mean RECOGNISING.The two are different things.If thats the case,how comes no one is making comments about government offices in the south being named in Turkish as well.

As far politicians are concerned,what makes them any differet then the "puplic Joe" on the road?

It's nothing more then GCs finding something to pick on,when it is them that gave those in the first place.

msg 5;

TRNC passport not North Cyprus,

Yes there is,but it is not recognised by most of the world.However,as much as most TCs are Brittish citizens,some are not,and in order for them to be able to travel around the world they are entitled to RoC passport as well.It is their right and cannot be denied of them.And as much as there is Cyprus problem and RoC not recognising TRNC,they HAVE TO recognise us TCs as individuals.

as a Brittish and Irish citizen I got one just for the princeple of it.They have to recognise ME.Use it or not is another story.
