If you are a TRNC resident with a British passport are you saying you have to either travel to Istanbul to get the visa or risk sending your passport to the Syrian Embassy in London? Surely you can get a visa when you arrive in Syria? I would like to take the ferry there from Cyprus later this year but if you have all this trouble I shan't bother. The butlers wife

Msg 3 + 4 I only tried to search the web to help you - I am not an expert and you would do better to talk to one. From experience of other visa requirements sometimes you might find that a trip to the embassy/consulate in the country you are living in is needed. When we sell tours there I ask the experts at our suppliers (who are up to date).

Having visited Syria now on 10 occasions a visa can be obtained on entry to the country although it may take a little time. It will be quicker if you obtain one prior to your visit you can do so in the following ways 1. Apply to the Syrian Embassy/Consulate either in Turkey/UK 2. Book a tour through an agency in Syria (this has the advantage of a free visa) 3.have somebody vouch for you in Syria (maybe the hotel you intend to stay at) they fax the immigration at your entry point and the visa is much quicker. The cost for British national is 58 dollars. Syria is a wonderful country lots and lots to see allow yourselves a good amount of time. A good way to get there is to fly to Antakya and take a Taxi to either Aleppo or Latakia it cost last time about 100TL. Hippo

@Hippo Sorry mate but not my firm. I don't know anything about about free visas, but in my book there is no such thing as a free lunch. All I can tell you is that they organise tours to Syria for other EU Nationals. Me? I'm an English teacher.
