Help - can anyone tell me how long it takes to get a new passport from the high commission? My partner works abroad and only has 2 clear pages left in his passort and needs a new one but doesnt want to go back to the UK to get one as he only has 3 weeks here in TRNC before going back to work.

I did it last year - they told me 10 days but it was ready in 7. Then I found a mistake, took it back and it was ready in 2 days. So it did take 10 after all.

Mine was ready after 10 days - you can download the form from the internet - you need your photo countersigned by a professional who has known you for 2 or more years - if not the local Muhtar can sign it for you. Take all docs and photo with money to commission and 10 days later should be ready

I had to do this last October, was told maximum of ten days, unfortunately it was more like 14 and nearly did not get to go on holiday, perhaps it was just a blip.

NZ have now gone to a maximum 5 year renewal passport and heard that it's only a matter of time when Britain goes the same way. There was no reduction in fee to compensate for the shortened period. Another stealth tax!

Mine took 10 days, as promised by the BHC. BUT I consider the 146 euros charge a rip off, and it has less pages than my prtevious 10 year standard size ones. However, the service from the BHC, incl a fone call about a detail, was first class.

Apparently they will fast track it if you can prove status as a well-known fugitive from British justice.
