Cooper - I don't do 'links' and unfortunately Paul is out at the moment. If you go onto the 'Cyprus Forum', go into 'General Chat' and then to 'and we were the ones who wore buckets' (or something along those lines) you will find the photos. I guarantee they'll give you a laugh, especially in the light of what they said about the photos taken at Guidos!



Let me know if this info. is enough, otherwise, I'll get Paul to put up the link when he gets in.

edmund - yes, I did appreciate this fact. I may have got a bit carried away with the fact that it was posted on the forum that delights in taking the proverbial out of anything that goes on on this forum, particularly anything to do with British ex-pats.

It has crossed my mind that those on the other forum who took an innocent thread of people in the North enjoying themselves and used it for their own twisted point scoring probally think no better of the ex-pat communities in the South.

Agree with you Grey there is to much sniping and if you take it all to heart it will grind you down .

barnaclebill - I have to admit, when I went back and had another look, I agree. I honestly believe that the evil, foul-mouthed minority actually look at the people in those photographs in the same way they see us "carpetbaggers". I suppose, if I had looked a bit closer initially, I would have seen by the heading that they were insulting these people in the same, small-minded way.



I do apologise that I "jumped the gun". And yes, you're right, life's too short (to stuff a mushroom)

Greylag - to be quite honest with you, I think, apart from a few minor disagreements, it would probably be quite a good night (mind you, you'd have to be a bit careful with the "guest list")



We have friends who moved to the North a few years ago - in fact, they're our neighbours, and we get on very well with them. They had a place in Paphos for some years, and decided, after many visits to the North, to sell up there and move to NC. They are good friends and neighbours to us, but, for the life of me, I still don't understand why they moved. I would call them (and I don't mean this in a derogatory manner) 'South Cyprus' people, e.g. the ex-pats clubs, the shopping, 'better' food, etc.



Still, takes all sorts to make liquorice

Indeed - some of these are well educated and decent people - I converse with a few regular GC visitors most summers and thoroughly enjoy the educated and erudite banter. The majority of GC contributors to the Southern site however are ill-educated and biggoted morons who would not be able engage in reasonable communion with a lesser reptile and are thus to be ignored by more sagacious individuals.

Private Pike used to post on here a lot a few years ago and I had a lot of time for him. He spoke a lot of sense (along with some rubbish). I can't remember what happened, but I seem to recall that he changed his stance quite dramatically and after that he kept popping up on here under different guises (having been repeatedly banned). As I said, I thought he had some very sound views on Cyprus. I have heard (from several people) that he's not a very nice person at all. He does seem intent on winding people up.



Ah well.................



PS Jetski - I agree - although it does seem a shame that human nature deems we tar all with the same brush.

I've looked at the photos taken at Guido's . And I've looked at the ones taken in the South.Quite honestly

the people don't look any different. Not many stunningly beautiful folk on either side but quite pleasant. Why not start with the idea that they might actually be nice people ?

Private Pike does like winding people up, a few weeks ago a fellow poster received an e-mail from him which named 5 other posters including myself.

He stated amongst other things that our time was up, we were all thieves living on stolen land, we were greedy and now the GC's were coming to take back what is rightfully theirs.



So yes the guy is not very nice in fact he is a coward spouting his filth from behind his computer............
