RE msg 2, donga: (...) maybe things aren't so bad in TRNC (...) => Are you and I living on the same island? Or is it England/Scotland and Cyprus? In Cyprus we are on the brink of a huge earthquake (or is Istanbul first?) - all figures from what is known from 100 before christ prove it. Any idea what happened ca 250 and 500 years ago? The signs are still there in (especially) Nicosia/Famagusta. Where you'd expect two minarets you only see one - broken. Dream on...

Hans, you said..."In Cyprus we are on the brink of a huge earthquake" Serious question. When is this likely to occur?

here is a link to the Tsunami that arrived in NZ after the Earthquake, it may look small but considering the distance it has travelled there is still a lot of power behind it, lucky as well it hit at low tide. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zG_ARyrEKM

Hans I can't believe I'm saying this, but,........ you need to do a bit more historic and current research! The major fault line, reponsible for the recent Italian disaster, actually runs well offshore past the South of Cyprus, which is why most damage has been previously caused in Paphos & Limmasol. Famagusta has been impacted in the past, as has Nicosia to a much lesser degree. This fault line then moves East. Istanbul and mainland Turkey are on a seperate fault line and notwithstanding a Turkish Coastal earthquake, almost unheard of, causing a minor Tsunami in NC, does not impact NC. You can research fault lines easily and 'google earth' gives details, magnitudes and dates of earthquakes by turning on the earthquake tab, bottom left. Most Cyprus events have been between the Akamas and Limmasol, very few, mostly minor, have occured in NC. So,... calm down,.. don't panic! Rob
