It seems that it is easier for an Israeli to get a British passport than it will be for Brits in the future, reading the paper today. 9 places in the world to be centres for passports!!! Madrid being our nearest! I think there will be lots of people whizzing in to BHC in the next month if their passport is due to expire within the year! Mines due next Jan so I reckon if I go in April Ill be within the limits - at least I hope so. "What a carry on" as NN's uncle would say!!

Beware, very soon the maximum period will be 5 years with no reduction in cost to compensate!

I think you may have got this wrong, as I understand it we will still apply to the BHC in Cyprus to renew our UK passport, BUT they will send it off to Madrid rather than to London as now. What will happen after the UK General Election is, of course, pure speculation! A 10 year passport will still be available but at extra cost.

Ricard, I work for the Identity & Passport service and there are no plans to change the passport duration to five years!

1893, NZ was the first Country to give women the vote but took the rest of the World a long time to follow suit, the same will happen with passport reduction time limit, now only 5 years for a NZ one.

Current cost in Nicosia is 144 euros

On their website they state that there is no profit made from passport sales.
