The Turkish dring Salep

I tried it today. It's just like "drinking" Turkish Rice Pudding.

Where did you drink it? or was it packet version that you can buy from the supermarkets.

Have you ever tried the Turkish drink Boza?

My husband loves Salep, hot with nutmeg sprinkled on it, I like the taste of it but find it a bit too sweet.

Diogenes you can buy it in a ready made carton in the supermarkets which is nicer than the packet mix. Whats Boza?

I got a sample from Lemar. Sprinked the top with cinammon. It was very nice.

I'll buy the jar with the free cup when I'm next in Lemar.

I don't know if it has any special properties, but I "dropped off" after the original post. No joke!

I drink Salep on a regular basis in the winter but I must admit that I have not heard of Boza but if I can find some then I might encourage my wife to drink it (Wiki 'Boza allegedly has the ability to enlarge women's breasts.') but I guess I will steer clear of it.

My hubby was given Salep a few weeks ago when we went to the bank and had a long wait! He went mad on it but we could only find it in small packets in all the supermarkets we went to, until we were told to go to Erülkü supermarket (just as you turn in to the mountain road from outside Lefkoşa). It's 15TL for a big box there - great value. The woman in the bank made it with milk which was much nicer than the way we made it - like coffee with water! Like the idea of nutmeg, I'll give that a go next time.
