Hye Sorry if this has been asked before but ; If i have a HSBC current a/c in UK and open a HSBC current a/c with HSBC in Girne would i be able to tansfer funds from UK to Girne online ? If so is there a charge and how "quickly" does the money take to transfer ? I am fed up with everytime i want to take money (not big amounts just couple of hundred) out of my UK a/c (via ATM here) i get charged for it . If i cannot do it with HSBC is ther another TRNC bank that has the facility ? Thanks

if you open an account here you 'may' be able to transfer it from one to another but rememeber that HSBC Uk and HSBC turkey are two seporate companies so i dont think you will, and i think you may still have to pay SWIFT transfer fees as your moving stering abroad, also your UK debit card is linked to your UK sterling accounts not to any accounts held here

Message 5, you beat me to it. HSBC Turkey and the UK are the same company and you can transfer free. The branch in Girne is part of HSBC Turkey. They will give you a debit card for withdrawals here if you want.

Hi Does That Mean that if you have a Premier Account in HSBC Girne that you can transfer funds to the UK For Free From The Girne Branch?.Or Does it have to be Internet Banking only ? Thankyou

If you open a Premier account with HSBC in North Cyprus (ask for Julie in Girne) you will get the facilities matched in your UK HSBC account - it is part of the overall Premier package. Some banks will give you more interest in the TRNC but at least with HSBC you know they are huge and stable. If you transfer between HSBC accounts I think the rates are preferential but go Premier to Premier and they are free.

There is an alternative if you use a bank here that holds accounts in the UK. Limassol Turkish, for example, have accounts in London with HSBC International. I can do an online credit transfer to their sterling account with HSBC free of charge. It is only necessary to put in my account details with Limassol as a reference. As soon as the money arrives at HSBC (normally credit transfers take 3 days), it is in my account here. I know that Iktisat also have similar arrangements, I think with Lloyds in London. You need to ask the specific banks about this as they are not likely to volunteer any information that means they can't charge you!

Hi we have Premier HSBC here & UK & can transfer online up to 10,000 gbp per day. This is not free but costs 17 gbp in UK with sender paying all charges. I have recently made some transfers & see that HSBC here have suddenly started debiting amounts from my TL a/c - presumably they are charging here as well so I am going to go in & do battle with them!
