We want to use our car to visit Famagusta Northern Cyprus and will be travelling from Paphos in Southern Cyprus.

Could anyone point us in the right direction for the nearest/best border crossing other than Nicosia that we are allowed to drive through.

We have already used the Nicosia (South "Ayios demitos" - North "Kermia") checkpoints but is was a long haul.

Someone has told us there are vehicle crossing check ponts near to Larnaca, Ayia Napa and possibly one near to Dhekelia?

Please can anyone advise.

Thanks very much

if pila is best for you when you cross keep going staright for a few miles, through a couple of small villages until you come out at major road to famagusta /lefkosh next to large mosque ,turn right and fam about 5miles .

There is also the Famagusta crossing point (Agios Nikolaos), from the A3 take the turn signposted Vrysoulles (junction 61 I think, although they are not numbered once you pass junction 58)! this will take you straight to the border about 2km from Famagusta.

The alternative would be to go to the end of the A3 and turn left through Paralimni and Dyrenia, but unless you know where you are going its quite tricky to find.
