What with the recent reports of excrement being found on Escape beach and now Hyperdermics being found on Lara beach, is any beach clean and safe anymore?

Mmmm given the choice of having needles stuck in your feet or excrement all over you I will stick to the pool.

The beach at the LA Hotel in Lapta is clean, and just 10TL to spend all day lazing in the sun either on the beach or by our infinity pool!

Does the beach belong to the hotel?

Seems that we have the choice of swimming in the chemicals of a pool or "going through the motions" in the sea !

Yes, it does. One of only two privately owned beaches in North Cyprus.

I am sure hotels do their best to keep the beaches clean but unless someone stops the gulets dumping their waste close to the shore the currents could take this filth anywhere.

I believe the major current around Cyprus runs east to west which explains why medical waste from Lebanon washes up here. But the surface current appears to run west to east most of the time so when the boats are dumping (ha) on the way back to harbour it will end up east of Girne.

People can get all sorts of medical problems from this disgusting practice.

I'm afraid us moaning about it will do nothing. Maybe hotel owners could lobby the government.
