This morning on the british forces radio it announced on the news that from the 1st of June passport renewal would be taking up to 4 weeks as all new passports would be issued in Madrid. then sent back to the British consulate in Cyprus. There will also be and additional charge for the Courier costs. You can still apply here but do be aware that it will take longer so make sure you allow enough time in case of travel. Angela

From 1st August British passport renewals from the UAE will be processed in Dusseldorf. Security and doing renewals more economically were given by the Embassy as reasons for the change.

The only problem is with processing your passport renewal in Madrid via the BHC in the TRNC is that although they will give advice re your renewal they will not be responsible for any passport application rejections. So get your application right first time as it could end up costing you a fortune. AJ
