I noticed that you had posted in a forum topic in March re Iphone 3Gs
Im travelling to Cyprus(south and North ) in a couple of weeks and have an O2 jailbroken via spirit 3gs on baseband 5.12.01 which I believe is about to be unlockable too according to redmund pie /musclenerd
what would be your reccomendations to avoid roaming charges if Im wanting to use internet for mapping purposes whilst travelling the island as well as for receiving e mail etc ??

Until the new unlock comes out (which we're expecting after the 22nd) then you'd do best not to use the phone out here. If it's just mapping you want then e-mail me ally.t.t@gmail.com and I can help you with loading iGO My way for Cyprus- as it's an offline map you won't be paying any roaming charges. When it comes to e-mail, you'd be best to stick to Wifi only. I'd definitely say switch off data roaming, I paid 120 lira in 10 days even on a local KKTCELL line when I forgot to remove the APN for internet access - it's amazing how much data is downloaded just to view the headers of e-mail.
