Moving out at the end of the summer, but will have to work not retire! How do I go on getting a work permit, or start business e.t.c?

Come and join us in the sun, James! With the way British pensions are going, more of us are working out here anyway! Language need not be a barrier either, as there are lots of opportunities amongst the English-speaking residents here, and that include many Turkish Cypriots. My hint is to look for a year round business opportunity, one that doesn't just depend on the summer trade, as more and more people are now enjoying a North Cyprus holiday during the winter months. The TRNC villa owners forum ( http://groups.msn.com/TRNCvillaowners) will give you some clues as to what skills ex-pats are looking for out here.

Thanks Izzet, The way I understand it from your article I'd need to either go through an employer or go through a solicitor to start up a company, Yes. Rather than just fill in the forms with the correct department. Thanks Sungoddess, from your profile I see your only in your thirties - thought you were a pensioner from your post - Would be interested in how your move. Regards J

Not a pensioner by a long chalk! Just saying that people I know who have 'retired' to TRNC often do a little work as well to help with the income. I moved to North Cyprus for the sun and the lifestyle, and yes, like all moves abroad, it does take lots of planning beforehand. The British Residents Association produce a neat little booklet on moving to North Cyprus; http://www.brstrnc.com. You have to send them a cheque rather than pay online, but it's worth the wait. Some of the info is a little out of date, so feel free to check any details here at this forum. I'm always happy to help where I can, and Izzet is a goldmine of useful information on North Cyprus!
