Ok, bar owners, feel free to advertise yourself too!

Following on from my frustration at the Ship earlier today (see my earlier posting), I'm interested to know if we have hotels that do welcome guests from outside to use their facilities, if they are eating or drinking around their bar/snack bar. If not, what are they charging and is it really only me that thinks it's better to bring in custom than drive it away?

Also, what bars have we got here where you can buy a drink and have a dip for free?

we walked away from both Green Heights and then the Riverside as they both wanted to charge us for using pool etc. Their loss as we would have bought drinks/food while there.

We then went to Club Simena who are always friendly and don't charge.

Pippie - glad you posted this as I've been wondering the same.

SilverRocks is in Lapta - past the lapta strip on the right hand side.

Park Lane is in Alsancak - turn left at the golden lady, first left, right at the roundabout then follow the signs.

Would love to know though if there is anywhere nearer to Girne?

me too.

I know there's the Paradise restaurant and bar in Girne but I don't know if they charge to use the pool - it's always been empty when we've been there. And I think there's a bar on the main road around Lemar where I've seen a sign outside about a pool, but I can't remember the details just now.

Does anyone know whether the Pia Bella charge, Altinkaya, or Club-Z? That would be nice, a lovely hotel with a nice atmosphere.

I'll post back on here any more I find out about on my travels. When family and friends come to visit then we'll have a list of different places to go.

Hilarion Village between Karmi and Edremit has free entrance. They do drinks and snacks. The water is spring water and is very soft, good for anyone with sensitive skin. The setting is beautiful surrounded by trees with a mountain backdrop. The couple who run it will make you feel very welcome. Highly recommended!

Just spent a lovely day at Park lane. Lazed by the pool, had a swim, enjoyed a super lunch - one of us had a prawn salad and two of us went for the steak sandwich served with the aforementioned yummy real chips!

Prices reasonable and use of the pool free of charge!

Great place, great service & lovely people! We will definitely be back soon!

Try 'Moss' - a wonderful building purpose built that wouldn't look out of place in Hollywood - huge pool!!

On the main road if you are driving into Girne from the east, on the left hand side - .on the Catalkoy/Karakum border.

Re: msg 10 - Club Z and Pia Bella do charge, sorry can,t remember how much. Last year the cheapest one we found was The Teachers Hotel at Bellapais junction. You walk to the back and pay at the bar. Prices are on the notice board in front of Hotel. Also you can use The Courtyards pool free if you buy drinks and food.

If your after some place to chill out and relax by the pool in a fantastic location then try Cousins Hidden Garden in Edremit. No charge for pool use, restaurant open all day and great people. No music unless you want it, No sound of the traffic from the main road. etc. Hardly anyone uses it so its always peaceful. Check the advert in Cyprus Today Newspaper for directions.

Someone asked me today about the Korfez Beach in Çatalköy. I hadn't even realised it was there. Has anyone been and what's your experience - any charges, what sort of facilities are there??? Thanks.

And thanks to everyone for your suggestions, keep them coming. They all sound great.

I have 2 small children who go through ice creams and drinks for fun so on average if i spend the day by a pool i will spend a small fortune so i will not pay to use a swimming pool on top i think that's naughty
