I don't see the difference. Still 90 days in any 180 days. Maybe I'm just being thick today! Geoff

And that is why, I believe, the Turkish authorities are going to stop the "visa residents" ie those that go to Greece for a new visa instead of applying for residency. I wonder where else that happens and no doubt will soon follow the Turkish lead.

Better hope TR join the EU;) I n the meantime - if they qualify - they need to get an Irish passport and cross to GR and use the IRL to refresh their 90 days

msg 3. Correct, if a block of 90 days are used then you cannot have another visa until the 180 days are complete.

6 M's.I think that you will find that this Visa change affects many nationalities including the Irish but not the Germans or French. The change has certainly upset a lot of people in Turkey but they should have bought a Residence Permit. Ian

“We have spoken to the passport police at Izmir Airport and they have told us that people from Europe are now being issued with a 90-day-in-180-day stamp. So why does this not apply to the German or French iankb ? are they not in Europe ?

Hi, The new visa rules for Turkey really affect all holiday home owners-not just residents. We usually go out there May/June and Sep/Oct-but this is now no longer possible as it exceeds 90 days in 180 (the clock starts ticking when we arrive at the beginning of May). We've decided to try and sell up there- we're thinking of coming over to N.Cyprus but we are not sure if the same visa regulations will be implemented there. Also, we have a Turkish registered car-are import tax rules the same as those applied to car being imported from the UK? We have noticed a definite 'anti-brit' feeling emerging on the mainland-not among the locals (who have been great) but at local/nation govt levels. The Germans, Greeks, Italians and French are not affected by the new regulations. Why not?? Rosie

re 13 iankb I was suggesting that those with UK and IRL passports can still 'cycle' them ! re 16 Rosehillgirl Interesting that some nations who are anti TR membership ( France) are being treated 'better' re residency than the UK - which WANTS TR in the UK !
