In addition to asking in our previous topic for Scaffold Poles to be used as uprights for fencing, we could also do with reinforcing wire or chain link fencing. The venture, to support 5 semi-domestic donkeys, will 'rehouse' them in a compound that has natural shade, fresh running water and lots of green fodder. We feed them twice a day and supplement their diet with fresh veg from our local Market. If you cannot help with materials, a donation would be appreciated and allow us to continue fence building. Watch out for "tails from Donkey Valley". p.s. Thankyou to Karen, from Girne area, for leaving 2 large water melons; the 2 girls (Anne and Camilla managed to eat the most). The boys; Harry, William and George didn't get a look in.

Hi Donkeykeeper.

Glad the girls enjoyed the melons....have posted your plight on here and will try to keep it to the top.

It was lovely to meet you both and the lovely donkey family, you are doing a wonderful job and I really hope that we can drum up some donations for you to rehome them.

Karen

I have approx 30 metres of galvanised, heavy duty, pipes which were intended for a self built car port, but from the outset of construction, immediate hernia, and a knackered angle grinder intervened, leading to a self built, lightweight, wooden structure, completed weeks later, after strapmydicktome surgery. (and the Wildebeest calls me Mr Bean !).

The pipes are not less than 3 metres in length and go to 6 metres, plus there are some iron brackets for right angles etc. If you are able to provide a means for cutting and transporting them (not using a Donkey as a beast of burden), and you think this will be viable, you are very welcome to them. Hee Haw !

I have just spoken to Donkey Keeper and if the offer stands then they would be delighted to accept the galvanised pipes...they are over the moon. We will work out the details of how they can be cut and transported very soon.

Many thanks deputydawg, you are a star!

Hi Deputydawg,

Your offer of galvanised poles is very much appreciated. I am desperately searching out a method of transporting the poles up to our new base at 'Donkey Valley'. I know that Tinkie is also on the case. Once we have completed the build you will be invited to the Grand Opening as an honoured guest of George, William, Harry, camilla and Anne.

Thanks Again.

The donkeys are just outside the village of Yeni Erenkoy but are moving as soon as possible to Kumyali

Stellastar, Greetings.

We do apologise for not replying. Myself and my Wife are a 'one-man-band' so to speak and have to collect food and, at present, feed the Donks twice a day. Today for example we have been foraging for windfall carobs, repairing hay nets which we previously made ourselves and snatching the odd moment on the computer and reading what a fantastic job Tinkie is doing for the Donks.

They are in a compound the size of a football pitch with very little shade, a broken bath for water and, before we came along, empty stomachs.

They are just outside Yeni Erenkoy at a holiday complex called Cyprus Pearl. We are intending to relocate to a proper site with natural shade and 3 times as much fresh water (on tap). This new site is called Donkey Valley but we are not disclosing the whereabouts till it is up and running; then you can all come and see them in Donkey Paradise!

Please accept our apologies.

To all you guys that are intetrested and are showing so much interest, George, William, Harry, Camilla and Anne wish to express their sincere thanks.

Harry and Camilla are an item at the moment, so there might be a need to enlarge the new enclosure; they will let you know.

Jill C

We have several people collecting for the donkeys. You can drop a donation to Karen at the Business centre/Wise Property in Alsancak, Lilli at Guido's or we can arrange to collect around Karakum, Arapkoy and Karaagac/Esentepe area.

Hope this helps

Jo

Are the Donkeys proving the myth that Carob is said to be an Aphrodisiac?

Look forward to the photos.

Well done to the Donkey rescuers.

Hi JanJin

Our 5 Donks love the Carob especially the very dry whithered ones. Aphrodisiac? Not sure but they have been running around playing tag more regularly!

Very many thanks for your support. The 5 Donks must realise by now that we are on their side.

Thanks again

Hi, I'm coming to meet the donkeys on Sunday and bringing my mum (from Kibris Liners) and we will bring the money raised in the last week. I know other people are going up too, but if anyone has anything they need taking let me know. Jo

If they are the Karpaz donks, what has happened to the Alsancak donks as I haven't seen them for ages!

The Karpas donkeys are next to the Cyprus Pearl hotel near Yeni Erenkoy at the moment, I've not been yet but Tinkie and JKintheUk both have so perhaps they can give directions.

Marcos is hoping to take the fence posts up to the new compound this Saturday!!!

Pass through Yeni Erenkoy village and a few hundred yards along you will see 2 small sign posts on the left hand side to Golden Beach and Cyprus Pearl. Just as you enter Cyrpus Pearl there is a gate keeper hut and to the side of that a football pitch with 5 beautiful donkeys inside!

They love cucumbers, carrots and cabages, carob etc. They enjoy melons but in this weather they go off to quickly and attract too many flies.

Joanna I will email you now.
