Query: If Telsim is actually Vodafone, but are not using the name Vodafone yet - if I change my contract from Turkcell to Telsim, 3 questions: 1. Can the Telsim number be used on the south as Vodafone is advertised there 2. Are calls and international calls any cheaper 3. Where are on earth do you pay the bills as I can't remember seeing any Telsim office Thanks, Tinks

1....................only in certain 'hotspots' 2....................errrrmm...cheaper than what turkcell? i think so but not certain. 3.................... telsim in girne is very close to 'mr pound shop'......also used to be one in what was called mushroom street. If you on contract you can also pay at a bank.

Don't know much about Turkcell charges but Telsim have some good deals on contract. I use their 69TL a month package which covers 500 minutes of calls to any other phone in TRNC inc. Turkcell and land lines. They also do a cheaper deal of the same kind covering 250 minutes a month for around 49TL I think.

I think it depends on where you are. I tried Turkcell in Tatlisu and it was diabolical (as well as expensive) but Telsim has been brilliant. I've also been really impressed with the service from Telsim - both in Lefkosa and Girne - whenever I've been in to pay bills or ask for help. Our neighbours have Turkcell and they can only get Edge on theirs, I tried the Telsim dongle on their PC and got straight onto WCDMA/HSDPA with no problems on skype.

This thread has contributors talking about using Telsim or Turkcell for mobile phone calls & also comparing them for 3G internet usage. These are 2 completely different issues. I think the original enquiry was about the phone service, unless I'm mistaken. IMO I think Turkcell is best & cheaper if you have mostly Turkcell subscribers in your phonebook. If the majority of your contacts are telsim then this would be the way to go. The respective tariffs are geared up to favour their own contacts. I have used Turkcell for 8 years on contract & find them professional & helpful. Easiest way to pay is via a bank in person - cash with the bill, or by standing order or via Internet banking with your own bank here.

Hi....to clarify....I have only used Turkcell for phone coverage, never had a problem anywhere in NC. I have not tried Telsim phone coverage. My comments about Telsim / Turckell earlier in this thread, is about internet coverage using a dongle. My dongle usage was mainly in Esentepe.
