Earlier this year there was a discussion on here about keeping the mozzies away. Someone suggested getting an injection from the local pharmacy and I thought it'd be a good idea for protection when I don't remember my mozzie cream. Around April I went to the one in Çatalköy. The injection hurt and I had a lump on my shoulder for a few days where the injection had been. But a few weeks ago my hubby mentioned a scar on my shoulder. It's where the injection was and at first looked like the size of a 5p but now looks like the size of a penny. I'm not sure whether it's growing or if it's just where the sun has not covered the scar so it looks bigger.

Has anyone else had this experience? I don't know whether I should be worried about any further effects.

I can live with the scar.

By the way the injection didn't work!

Yes, a rather large hole/scar on the side of my arm. It does improve but after two years, still very evident.

I think that everyone needs to be careful of antihistamine injections.

30 +odd years ago I suffered from cronic Hayfever and was recommended to a de-sensitising programme at hospital. It involved lots of skin tests (mini injections) to find out what you were allergic to and antihistamine injections to counteract them, once a week for 6 weeks for a period of 3 years. There were 10 of us in the experiment and we had to wait in the hospital for 30 minutes after the injection in case of an adverse reaction, given a special pen to draw around the sometimes HUGE (mine was several times the size of an egg!) bump the injection made us react to.

Also we were given tablets to take if we had a very sore arm afterwards with 3 horse size pills. (forerunner to adreneline pen) to take if we experienced breathlessness and chest pain and were told to dial 999!!!

I also have scars from those injections and now will only take antihistamine in tablet form.

BTW it didn't even cure it....
