Hi,



Just wondered if anyone knows how to get Santana sports? I have sky currently but seems like alot of football this season is being played on satana.



Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated

Probably not useful if you already pay for sky etc but if you are sad and want to watch English Premiership puffs kicking a ball around then Showtime shows all the games.

hi

wayne is correct you cant get santana unless you can actually get sanatana ireland but you will have know someone in ireland that can get you this or their is some special companies that can order you this

my advive is to go for the showtime package many more games and variety

The only olace I know that has Setanta is The Hotel Sempati Lapta/Karsiyaka border I watched a couple of SPL games at the end of last season, and these are only shown on Setanta.

If you just want to watch the sport without the set up costs would suggest going to the Paradise in Catalkoy, as they have Sentenna

CJtill, I run the old mill in ozankoy, hence the reason for wanting sentenna. I have sky but for some reason this season the premiership games seem to be spread between both.

if you want to be ahead of the rest with coverage of the football is to get this showtime package makes sky and senatna look rubbish and a waste of money, on a sat showtime will show many more games for example on sky and setatna this coming sat has got 3 games where showtime has got 6

(most) Setanta channels have been available in Cyprus since November 2007

required dish size for trouble free viewing is minimum 1.8m but a good quality 1.5m will also do the job.

They are not accesible through normal EPG channel numbers but can be watched on "other channels" option in SKY digibox menu.



Although i have had this info for nine months, I have not advertised this because channels non EPG channels dont usually last long,so we have been waiting for SKY to either assign a channel number for the channels or make them visible for their subscribers on the available Setanta channels in EPG.



The transponder parameters for Setanta channels is

Frequency = 11585

Polarity = Horizontal

Symbol Rate = 27500

FEC = 2/3



Available channels on the above frequency at the moment are

Racing UK

Racing World

Setanta Ireland

Setanta Sports (Setanta 1)

NASN

Liverpool FCTV

Arsenal TV



For those who dont know how to tune & store Setanta channels;

Go to menu>services>system setup>add channels and enter the above parameters,then scroll to bottom of screen & hit "find channels"

You can save the found channels by ticking them with yellow button.



final warning:as i pointed out above,non EPG channels have no guarantee to last.

I can concur that my 1.5m offset dish can receive Setanta 1 !!



I just wish you would have told some of your more select customers Ice as I have been a subscriber to Set for ages now just for the Racing Ch !!!!!!!

the reason why you have to manually tune in this freq to other channels is because most cards that people bring over are from england and the santana english version is pre programmed on the card which you cant get in turkey and cyprus thats why some cards you get for example have got itv london on it and some have got itv north east its all about the regions where the card comes from, now if you are actually from ireland and have subscribed to sky with santana you will get the irish version of this channel and it is on the epg and the only diffrence is the adverts

not sure what you mean about guarantee of non epg channels because channels like for example e4 u.k and channel 5 reg1 you cant get on a 1.5 or 1.8 which is on the normal epg but e4 ireland and channel 5 reg 2 you can recieve no problems aswell as many other channels if you are a subscriber these channels wont cut off i have been adding channels like these for years with no problems and they have still lasted

the freq you have provided is for santana sports ireland and like i said the only diffrence is the adverts the other santana 1 is actually santana for pubs which you can only watch if you take out a pub subscription



at the end of the day personally sky sports and santana are a waste of time, packages like showtime and digi albania and nova are far better and show much more matches come to think of it more sports in general

You have forgoten 1. Have you seen Sky Sports Italy including Sky Calcio. I have just purchased that Card beats the S**t out of Sky, Setanta, Showtime and Nova. All you need is a 90 cm Dish to receive these channels on Hotbird. here in Cyprus.

Apart from postal code region limitations applied on SKY cards most of the time SKY uses available vacant transponders to shuffle some channels around.

A good recent example is how many people knew five ITV1 regions were on Astra 2B for some weeks?This was during the period Astra 2D transponders were rearranged due to Freesat platform being launched.

Channel 4 also used a non EPG transponder for some time recently before migrating to 2D..

Some time SKY hides these non EPG channels video/audio PID's to prevent skybox users from receiving them but most the time since they will not be available on that transponder long they don't bother.



a good example to region limited non EPG channel you mention is E4...

This channel is not available for users in Cyprus but the sister channel E4 Ireland is available for Irish SKY subscribers and it can be added to "other channels" by entering 11575V.



Also its worth noting that there is a transponder (12402V) on Astra 2B North carrying six ITV1 regions...

Unlike Astra 2D,Astra 2B North does not require a 4m+ dish in Cyprus,so its a good alternative frequency to store in "other channels"

i have not forgotten about sky italia even thou it is a good package aswell but it is the most expensive and in my view not worth the money compared to showtime which is only £400 a year for the full package and not just for sport you get a lot more english programes on their like corrie and emmerdale etc

and you say sky italia beats every1 for football thats not exactly true all 7 games today are covered by showtime where sky italia is only showing 5

for the best system you have to go for is a 1.8mt motorised system contolled by a v-box and use the dreambox that way you have everything from all the sat



iceman yeah i have been watching them itv channels aswell as sky sports for a couple of weeks another example up to last year was watching the bbc stream channels which had football and other programmes on it till it changed to south beam from north and recently chan 5 went thru this that you could not get region 1 thru the epg but if you added region 2 you would get it no problem

and your right if you are not clued up with sky you could miss out channels that you can normally recieve one way or the other and the best thing in my view is get a next box which has one of the best tuners and use that with a dragon cam with your sky card

you really will be wasting your time in getting setanta because show sports covers all the matches that setanta does and then some, if you are looking for another package then i would advise you in getting either digi-alb or nova and these two packages are reasonably priced and have the matches that sometimes show does not cover

The Paradise Sports Bar in Catalkoy has Setanta. We watched the community shield thier last Sunday. No problems with his Dish, he said his Dish is Microtuned for Faulty Free reception and can Guarantee he will never lose Reception on all Channels. The Paradise will be showing the England Game on Wednesday against the Czech, he is expecting a Full house and has told us to arrive Early for a Good Seat.

So Now you have 24 Hours Setanta Sports, ITV 1 , Channel 4 & 5, All BBC, All Sky Sports so Happy Days for you, How about ITV 4, i can now receive this channel after 10pm, when there is sport on . Have you cracked that one yet. If Man utd gets drawn with weak teams in the Champions League, this Channel is a MUST.

Of Course i am sure. This happened during the Euro 2008, when 1 Game was ITV 1 and the other was on ITV 4, it was on One of the Itvi stream channels, Not on the EPG. Non Sky Box. We had a Day when their was a transponder change over, so i done a quick search to receive the best ITV 1 Frequency and ITV 4 Appeared then it disappeared the Next Day. Hopefully as i said it reappears again when the Champions League is on. It could have been a Test for the Stream channels like the BBC Interactive Service.

P.S. There was plenty of Testing in June on ITV Transponders, i was getting signal levels of 90 % on My Dish. With all the Footie ITV Sport has got this year i think we will see a Interactive Service, just like the BBC in the Coming Future.
