Helpful information on changes to standard practices within the authority situations ie. paperwork changes, office timings changes, costs. Local businesses offers and requirements Anything else but The Cyprus Problem (unless it is an official announcement), the housing issues (unless it is an official statement), Non Cyprus infill news stories (There are news sites for that), lost or lonely pets (there are dedicated sites for that) I just realised, I don't have much interest in what is actually on C44, damn it I will just have to start my own forum and have Hans and Marky Mark as my main mods if they want the job

Hans, only three makes it a tough choice. I like to know what may affect me in the TRNC, ie property issues, electricity prices, etc; I like to know about general things in TRNC, bad weather, hot weather, water shortages. But most of all I like to know what is happening with all the people I (we) know in TRNC, that is why 44 is popular I can keep in touch with all that is going on and all that the people we know are up to, well perhaps not all they are up to

paul you may be in the minority , whenever a political or topical thread is posted it gets 3/4 replies ... gravy or a "good" agruement gets 500 , i think dutch proved this with his "trends" posts , people still did not get it , please look at dutch's photo/green line threads ,minimal views , a curry or personal post gets more ,,,

Hi Folks I like to read about boring overpriced restaurants, boring pets, mostly dogs and cats, although the odd lost parrot in Karsiyaka gets a mention, and not least, boring posts about not getting Kocans and dodgy advocates and estate agents in North Cyprus. I mean, who would have ever believed that? Not me, I believe everything they say. All in all, 90% of Cyprus44 postings have all these, I love them! Whenever I get over to dear old Alsancak and chill for a month with no internet, I miss them all and can't wait to get back to the UK and read all the postings on the Forum! Hey, where's that dodgy restaurant I just ate at? Those subjects are my 3 most favourites! I just can't get enough of them! I'm going for a lie down now, feeling feverish, probably withdrawal symptoms now back in Blighty. Lem (Member of the Honorable Society of Ex-Cyprus44 Moderators)

apc, I still post on the day to day stuff, that is what makes 44 what it is a community forum. I have meet many 44 members and we are all ordinary people with TRNC in common, I don't see what is wrong with that. I like to have banter with other members and most of the time it has nothing to do with Cyprus but more to do with people. After twenty years of an association with the TRNC I know people who I met then and who to my surprise not only remember Jean and I but also call us friends. Also everytime we go to TRNC we meet new people who become friends. 44 has been a catalyst for a lot of people.

i am not criticising that point of view , just surpised that more people are not interested in knowing more about the country/ politicall enviroment they live in ,rather than who will win x factor ,or where to get a curry/english breakfast,,, how many people on here know cyprus history from both sides ..????

apc, I think, and this is my opinion, that most of the people I know do have a knowledge of the history of Cyprus, from both sides. Hans for one is very knowlegeable. Some expats do miss certain things, okay x factor may not be the most cerebral subject, but it is a link to the UK. Over the years there has been a different kind of person that has visited and settled in TRNC, but there are still the people who have been either coming here for a long time or have settled here for many years. Things change I'm sure other countries experience the same. It is frustrating when people say "I have never been to North Cyprus but I am buying a house there". You get people like that all over the world, it is sad that most seem to be brits. That's it for me tonight................

paul , the reason i post cynical posts alot is because of my dismay of expats in general , i find it sad that when d/c posts factually things , little response , the other day greylag? posted a genuine question on direct trade ....nothing untill i bumped it .....post within the "click" ,, 500 views ... i do not deny somethings i am disruptive , only out of lack of faith in people ..... btw who won strictly x facyor/ dancing / on ice ????

APC The polarised views one gets on a board north or south for that matter don't really lend themselves to adult discussion of Cyprus history and the Cyprus problem... So it's not surprising that discussions of this nature tend to go awry. I have a great interest in the subject but don't see that this forum is the best place to discuss these things for that reason. It has also been done to death... it's a bit like going into the pub for a bit of craic and hearing the same conversation over and over again... it wears a bit thin. Those people who live here must have raked over this ground so many times... If this forum is to be as Izzet wants, a community then like any community it's going to get a bit stale if the only topics of conversations are the serious issues of Cyprus. Do the local TC/GC communities only talk about Cyprus? Things I look to contribute to or discuss... but which are not exclusive What's going on in the world? Who can I help? How do I do this?
