Hi favour, last year when we visited N Cyprus we too came via Ercan. It was very easy, there are a number of taxis that will take you over the boarder, or you can walk across and then get a bus or local taxi....I dont think you can take a hire care over though yet.....

Shrimp- Favour is non EU citizen it isn't easy.

You need a visa, but how you get it in TRNC I don't know. Before my wife became a UK citizen we had to go to the ROC consulate in Manchester. This was a travel agent at the university. What followed could only be described as an interrogation! She might not come back said Rosa Klebb's GC cousin. Had to show my bank accounts and pension statement to get a visa. Didn't dare show her the TRNC statements!

If nobody else can answer this I would go and ask the GCs on the crossing point what to do.

You will need Visa for the Republic of Cyprus (South Cyprus, Greek Cypriot side) BEFORE you travel here.

Then it is easy to cross over from the TRNC to the ROC,

Favour..

As you aren't an EU Citizen - without a Visa you may have 'fun' getting to the Danish Embassy..

You haven't stated what your citizenship is, but if it is US/ Canadian/ Oz/ NZ ( for example) I know folks with those passports can enter the RoC - via an 'official port' without a Visa.. a UN designated crossing point ( don't call it a border to a RoC official - if you want to be successful !) is NOT an official point of entry :(

Here's a list of nations that DO needs Visas:

http://www.cyprusvisa.eu/countries-required-entry-visa-cyprus.html

Now.. If you ARE from a nation that doesn't NEED a Visa then I'd just try and cross at Ledra Palace on foot - note I said *Palace* - not the Ledra Street crossing ..

Hi Geoff,

may be Favour doesn't want to reveal that - why is it relevant ?

He has the list of visa requiring nations and if he's on it then he'll have to find if they have representation in Turkey or 'TRNC' ..

Methinks - if he IS a visa requiring national he'll have to deal with the Danish in Turkey or see if the Danish in 'south' Nicosia will accept a third party to deliver any application / passport / documentation

It is only relevant in that depending on the passport so it depends on whether he needs an advance visa or not.

We could then advise him which. True he could ascertain that for himself - in which case why ask on here in the first place?

Hi Geoff,

Favour can work that out from the link I posted in msg 8 ..

( http://www.cyprusvisa.eu/countries-required-entry-visa-cyprus.html ) ... hence my wondering why he needed to tell us his nationality ;)

Hi

I assume that you want to apply for a visa in Danish embassy, as long as you are not an EU citizen and you entered the island from Ercan you can not legally cross the border. I have the same problem, and been to Cyprus republic embassy while I was in Copenhagen. They said they will issue me a visa easily but I have to enter to the island visa Larnaca and exit from Larnaca. Which wasnt good for me. So if you want to apply for a short time visa you can apply from German embassy in lefkosa otherwise you have to go to Istanbul or Ankara and apply for any kind of long time visa.

Good luck

Re : Msg 16,

Hippo's got confused after a bottle of rum, oh yes he has.

Hippo's Danish friends have EU passports, the poster in Msg 1 does not.

It is where lies the difference and mountains grow out of the mole hills.
