That is if you are lucky enough to get a flight in to the north, especially from Manchester, Atlas flights finished yesterday and as yet no alternative has been identified, the only one is Turkish Airlines and their prices are a bit steep at times.

Does anyone know if this tax will be added to existing bookings? ie. like a surcharge at the airport?

The demise of KTHY, the subsequent rise in air fares, the UK tax hikes and my anger at the way expats are being treated in NC has really cut back my visits. Anyone else?

Now getting the break down of costs on the ticket, fees, taxes etc, the one that cracks me up is 'airline service'! How does that stack-up as some airlines charge for food & booze, sell newspapers above print price and promote their own company lotto scratch cards?!

Return? Plus £100 return taxi fare, so all in all £259.75, take your own sandwiches and buy a half bottle of your tipple at the duty-free. Not bad! TRNC loses any form of income, madness!

hold onto your hats then folks ,lol

do you book early and get your seat or wait and see if airlines buckle on price a bit as people not rushing to pay in advance as much ?

last year got 2 very early seats with peg from stanstedfor summer and greta value ....booked 6months ealry for a september flight then nearer the time i had paid £100 more than if i had left it later ....

for me im leaving it till march and see if flights from manchester come off a bit more into north with new carrier .

if not i will just have to pay the going rate

I heard a UK 'expert' on Radio 5 say that the tax increase is NOT retrospective. He did say the new tax was based on distance to the capital city of the country you are flying to, rather than the zones previously used. No doubt they will conveniently use Leftkosa, rather than Ankara, to calculate this as it will raise more tax. If so it should be cheaper to purchase a return to Istanbul and then the return ticket to Ercan separately. Has anyone tried this?

May aswell base it on Timbuktu or outer space as TRNC, Nicosia Ercan, doesn't exist!
