I presume from the silence you all have a gardener.

Hi I'm in Lapta, been here permanently 2 years.I had a very productive veg plot this year.

Lots of it is trial and error. But I have 2 TC neighbours and they advise me.Last year I did grow lots of

peas and beans to put nitrates into the soil, also bags and bags of sheep manure.

Also I planted my peas and beans too early and the weather In Feb/Mar winds and rain damaged the crops.

Again prepare your soil during the winter months, see when local TC's are planting up.

But I did grow parsnips,my neighbour has been taking my broccoli leaves to feed her chickens.

The peas and broad peas were good too.Oh yes,in pots I had a summer supply of toms, peppers,

aubergines My cucumber plant is on the first floor railing.

The is a good shop for seed and a little advice,100m from Girne hospital...buy the local seeds

Oh if you go to Girne market in the Spring, always plantlings for sale

Hope that is some use

Mike

Another proper answer.............................

Try sweetcorn, when ready straight to bbq.......I heard it loses so much sugar if left even an hour.

Delicious.....I have the foil in my hand taking them to bbq.

And what about fruit trees ? Pomegranite..beautiful flowers in Spring,My tree planted 2 years ago has about 10 fruits, ready to harvest...the juice is drunk gratefully by men of our age.

I had about 20 apricots off a tree planted 2 years ago.I've also planted a plum,cherry,nectarine,almond,

all of which I hope for some yield next year..but the flowers in spring will be rewarding.

I also had a good crop of strawberries
