Sometime next year (around March) I am hoping to get a Blues club up and running. Although the location of the club has not been finalised yet (Alsancak/Lapta area) the other requirement is to talk to anyone that plays blues (on whatever instrument) to see if they are interested in helping to get the club off of the ground. I would love to see some CT's get involved as well as expats. I already have support from a couple of friends that run a successful blues club in the UK and also support from some CT's that are well known musicians in the TRNC. There is a level of frustration within the musical community here that they have to play rock/pop music to survive. Anyone that went to the Bex Marshall concert and to the Efes Blues Festival will realise how popular the Blues is out here. Anyway anyone that may be interested in this is invited to contact me at cyprusdavegurr (at) gmail.com.

Thanks

AJ

I will certainly be there.

Sam, Measey, Bill, Lilli, and Mike.

Thanks for your support. Just got to get a few more musicians on board but it will happen.

Oh darn it. I have already bought the ring. Where is the nearest pawn shop (note the spelling of pawn before anyone misconstrues this message)

Sam

I will have to describe it to you.

It is gold (coloured) and inset is a large diamond (cut glass but hey it looks just as good) and it is 'one size fits all' and it is the most I have ever paid for a Christmas cracker (sorry I meant 'ring') and obviously I could not wear it so after a lot of soul searching and looking at my list of female friends I chose you. You were top of the list (and bottom of the list). Did you sort out the angle grinder because I have had no luck yet.

And just to make sure I do not hijack my own thread, I need some more Musicians to help out with the 'Blues Project' It does not matter what you play (could even be comb and tissue ) but the more the merrier.

Hopefully i shall have someone come by tomorrow afternoon with said angle grinder...now all i need is a quick lesson and a tool to paste some concrete on a wall, followed by some plaster....afterall, how hard can it be, surely a 5 min lesson will be all i need!!?

so nice to know i am the winner of such a beautiful crackerjack ring...i shall treasure it for always!! hehehe!

good luck in finding musos....try Efendi...the chefs and some customers play guitars and i believe a harmonica.

Thanks Sam for the heads up about Efendis. I am going to be doing the rounds now to all of the usual locations and talk to musicians to see if they are interested. If you want to hang on for a couple days I can come and have a look at your problem and advise.

Rowlo

If you like the Blues then you will be more than welcome. Do you have your own kit? if not we may have a drummer that will be part of the house band that will let you use his kit. A lot of small things that now need to be tidied up so as much info I can get from you guys then the easier it will be for me.

No problem, I think I can sort something out. I will keep you informed about what is going on.

Just bring your own drum sticks cos you know what other drummers are like they will lend their kit but not their drumsticks.

Hi AJ,

Put me down as interested in playing or jamming Blues, I played in the rhythm section of the "24 Hour Band" with Bex on her recent gigs. I will probably be selling the acoustic drum kit, but will be keeping / replacing the electronic Roland as that is more suited to the sizes of the venues out here. I also have a full PA / Mixer etc etc if the project get off the ground.

Best Regards

Hi TonyE

Thanks for your reply. I have added you to the list and will keep you informed as to what is happening and if you know of any other musicians (in particular anyone that plays keyboards) that would be interested then if you or they could let me know it would be much appreciated.

ulaş

Got your e-mail thanks and will keep you informed of what is going on. And I think it is going to be sooner than March now because of the response I have had. The location is almost sorted but there are a few more negotiations to tie up the loose ends.

Measy

We are going to start out small and build up so we are going to use other existing premises and if it is successful then we will look to having our own premises and you would be more than welcome to quote for bespoke furniture as I believe that ultimately we will need a lounge type environment.

Regards to all

Re message 28, will contact you soon.

Pat, you are more than welcome to get involved.

Bill, the same also.

The good news is that after talking to the owner of Teos he has agreed to host the Blues Project and I think the way things are going that it may happen a lot earlier now.

Watch this space!
