Thanks Malsancak. I was thinking of buying the full Rosetta system, but it is very expensive. I will look at your link

I have the online version it is very good for Vocab & practising speaking/listening/reading but if you don't know the basic Grammar you will struggle with it as it does not explain this to you.

I don't think it is very helpful for total beginners

I will have a look at the Torrent thanks for posting it

I have the Rosetta system but can't get on with it. It does cover reading as well but I only wanted conversational Turkish. With Pimsleur you don't have to take notes or try to memorise, which is how kids learn. BUT it's just a quick start to the language and other packages help expand vocabulary once you've got the basics.

You can try any method you like. There is only one way to learn. Move to an area where only Turkish is spoken, you will be fluent in less than a year.

If you are not, I will give you your money back.

Bill in the post shortly.

Yfred, that's a bit expensive. I thought holidaying in Turkish hotels would help but too many of the bar staff are Russian speaking, I can speak a little Russian now.

In case anyone else is interested in buying this, it's sold. After speaking to them yesterday and telling them I would call today to arrange picking it up, 4 un-answered calls and a text message later, I've just been told that it's been sold to someone else. Story about not knowing it had been sold already by their partner, fair enough, but answer my calls or send me a text to let me know would be polite!

Malsancak, I was talking about going to a local village, sitting at a local kahve and playing tavla or Pasra with the locals and drinking Zivaniya. Then you'll learn the local language good and proper. Not at the hotels which all speak english and russian. That's a waste of good money. At least with the local kahve any money you spend goes to the local ecenomy.
