| KARAMAN/KARMI, December 4, 2010 - The beautiful book "Karmi to Karaman" (A photographic history of a Northern Cyprus Village from the 1970s to the present day) was presented today to the TRNC Minister of Tourism, H.E. | RE msg 3, No1Doyen: (...) Why, weren't the other links safe Hans? (...) ▶ Bill, I check all my incoming and outgoing mail for malware and I don't upload dangerous links. That's why I'm not happy with this post on Cyprus44: http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/51288.asp |

Hans, I made the post to help or advise members who are maybe not aware that by clicking any link on the internet or CY44 is "SAFE & OK" !? Any long term member of CY44 most probably knows that a link provided by "you" will be "safe". But as my post says.... "un-trusted" "Just lately the Forum seems to be flooded with New/First posters with Links (most likely spam)."

Tootie, I reacted because (fact; I see it in my statistics) less than half of the C44 members and visitors follow a link after they have opened a thread (which Subject title obviously interested them!). So it's hard enough to attract some attention and a warning to be very careful doesn't help much. If new members were better checked/watched by the board management your warning wouldn't have been necessary. But, let's not discuss it here - the book mentioned in message 1 deserves all the attention. CU at Guido's for a beer!

Re: Msg 1, Dear Hans, Thanks for the info about the book and the pictures. Well, you know what I'm going to say now. Could you please mark on the map: 1. The steps off Acacia Drive (252 ) - from their top it is a nice view - good for pictures. 2. Caves off Ilgaz Road. 3. Direction to the Bronze Age cemetery with Middle Bronze Age tombs ( older than the Royal Tombs at Salamis !) before reaching the village. That's all. Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Clarissa

Gnädige Frau! "Finis Coronat Opus!" (little quiz for Latin speaking people: what does it mean and where did I read it?). I made the map following the instructions of committee members, but I agree: in a newer version I can add some interesting spots including the ones you suggest. When version 1.1 is ready I'll upload it to my server and give the link here - hopefully tourists and maybe even residents will use the map to walk through the lovely village of Karaman/Karmi! Mit herzlichen Grüssen, Hans

Where did you find Hardy, newscoop? You are right, I should have checked the spelling of his name in my Address book. Thanks for telling me!

Re : Msg 10, Hans, have you been reading Ovid's Heroides recently or looking at emblems in Otto Vaenius's "Emblemata aliquot selectiora amatoria (1618)" ? "Das Ende krönt das Werk" , indeed!

RE msg 13, Clarissa2: (...) Hans, have you been reading Ovid's Heroides recently or looking at emblems in Otto Vaenius's "Emblemata aliquot selectiora amatoria (1618)" ? (...) ▶ No! I once saw it in Latin ("The finish crowns the work") on a sign halfway the famous Brooklyn Bridge in New York, USA.
