Hi Everyone good morning

I refer to the posting regarding " Why are so many people so nasty when posting?"

Why not introduce transparency to the qualification of Membership, making it a requirement to post under the name on your passport.

I'll stake everything I own that this simple requirement will resolve this issue at a stroke.

Have a lovely Christmas

RE msg 1, dougskud: (...) Why not introduce transparency to the qualification of Membership, making it a requirement to post under the name on your passport. (...)

▶ Very good suggestion, Mr Richardson! Why wouldn't we do that on C44? Would people be afraid of "spies in the South"? Is there really someone naive enough to think "they" do not know all they want about us over there..?!

Dougscud. That would be very good but I fear those who do not wish to be transparent will still fudge the issue. How can the detail provided be verified ? Some folk have numerous passports issued or bought from criminals. Hope you too have a lovely Christmas and amongst family and friends.

This is a great idea, and could be kept really simple:

People could file an application, maybe at the Police station, or alternatively at a dedicated Cy44 office, with a certified copy of their passport, maybe police checks to confirm no previous 'cheeky' posts

Once the approval is completed by presumably the mods, they could go to a small office in Nicosia to collect their Cy44 stamp.

The membership could then be renewed every year in case of name changes etc.

Perhaps in order to speed up future renewals, there could be a 'biometric' stamp issued.

Anyone not resident on the island could then either pop over when their membership is due for re-new, or alternatively I am sure that Turkish embassies around the world would assist with overseas applications.

Terry ................. perhaps over cryptically modified.

Terry

What a superbly simple system, can I ask if you would help us with setting up this system.

Have a good Xmas and New Year.

I have used hundreds of forums, and still have not come accross any, where people would freely alow anyone to have access to their names (addresses, personal details etc.)! It really does not take a genius to work it out why. I believe people should have a choice to disclose who exactly they are or not, to whoever they see fit.

Others might think it would be far too much personal info floating on internet. Public forms have been used by people using avatars and pseudonyms all over the world for dogs years. It is what makes them interesting in cyberspace!

If people want to chat to close friends then why not use Skype, Windows/Yahoo messenger, or Facebook etc.?

Dougskud. I am not sure why you have posted message 5. Are you saying that my profile is not accurate or you wish I would disappear, or both ? I said that I liked your idea but perhaps verification of detail offered would be needed and in passing wished you Seasonal greetings. Seems like that is not reciprocated.

I would like someone to post on here a simple solution to adding your photo next to your user name. I've tried, but not being totally computer literate have been unsucessful. A clear photo of postees is normally a show of good intent and concern on a posted subject.

Personally I don't see what would be gained, and as someone said there are personal security issues inn these days of ID fraud. I don't think it would stop anything - people always find a way around things. For myself I don't care who joins C44, we can take anyone on - the pen is mightier than the sword! I leave it up o the moderator/owner to decide, and I'll go along with his decision/s.

I've bought a property. I didn't do anything wrong. I asked my solicitor whether it was legal and she said that it was. I have nothing to hide. Isn't hiding your real identity admitting that you think that you have done something dodgy.

Everyone knows who I am.

Talk up the TRNC and watch your property prices rocket!

I've been talking up th TRNC for years, and prices did go up a lot.

But recently the market has stagnated.
