Yes they are. Not sure of the exact details but I believe there is a free buffet and Big T is entertaining.

Never spent new year do they do all the fireworks as well and are children welcome there?

Children are definitely welcome but there will not be fireworks. If you want these the best place to be is in the old Harbour area in Kyrenia.
