I have recently been trying to sort out a neighbour's buildings insurance (he is away at present) and it seems that since the flood events earlier this year insurance companies are becoming more cautious. The house in question is a typical concrete frame build but it has a roof construction of trusses, felt, battons and tiles. Not a poured concrete roof. I have been told that earthquake is not availasble for houses of this construction. Has anyone else come upon this problem recently?

Correct, only available on brick or stone construction buildings here, and some Insurance Companies want an earthquake certificate (mandatory in Greek Cyprus insurances BTW). Geoff

Thanks Geoff. My house is same construction as my friends but no-one has queried it for last three years. Perhaps the Insurance companies got a bit of a hiding earlier this year. My renewal comes up in Feb so willsoon see. Tks again.
