| Chief Inspector Glynn says that in lower lower level antisocial behaviour ordinary people could reproach those causing trouble. I worked as a support worker in the community with adults suffering from Learning Disabilities and tried that, to find myself being chased across a housing estate by these trouble makers who where threatening to beat me up. When I eventually called the police they said I should not have been so stupid as to confront these people alone. Maybe I was stupid, but it is difficult to stand by and watch people that cannot look after themselves being abused. I once worked with one man and when I went to his flat on one occasion most of his furniture had gone, this was his neighbours so called friends who robbed him, this is why I was being chased across the housing estate, because I challenged them. Lets hope the Police can be more supportive in these cases. |
