Having arrived in December for a long holiday I was given a visa for 90 days. If I go over the border and they give me a shorter visa. How will this affect my 90 day visa.

make sure when you go to the south you use a separate visa slip, and then when you exit at Ercan it will not matter, if you entered on a slip, not a stamp in your actual passport, keep this one separate for when you leave, do not use it to go south

Using a different visa slip will change nothing since your info is in the system. If you are planning to stay over 90 days and you get questioned, just tell them how long more you are staying. They are humans after all.No need to panic. In the meantime, the longest vise on your slip is the one that counts.

I don't think you are right yorgozlu. I think it is always the LATEST visa you get and not the LONGEST that counts. Visas issued at the borders are one visit only and it it stops to be valid as soon as you leave the country. Correct me if I am wrong.
