RE msg 1, tanem: Another good (Cypriot Turkish?) idea ruined with one post. It's the same with the menu in many restaurants, signs on the front of shops etc.: broken English (slang: lousy English). I appreciate the efforts, but why, Cypriot Turkish friends, are commercial English texts not proofread by an educated Britisher?

I always offer to help when I see very poor translations which obviously do not enhance their business opportunities, rather makes them a laughing stock.

I have done lots of menus and advertising stuff, actually I enjoy doing it, cannot translate but certainly can get the gist of what they want to say and put it into good english grammar, if anyone (tc or otherwise) needs any help in this direction then email me.

Most of my working life was producing brochures, advertising material etc.

No charge for this little service except perhaps a cup of coffee.

bigOz (Ozer) has been doing translation work for legal and civil engineering purposes very successfully. He does not advertise because he seems to be getting pepole through recommendation by other satisfied clients. As far as I know he does not do it for free. But we have a saying in Turkish "vinegar that comes free tastes sweeter than honey".

Anyone who has any serious translation work involvin English-Turkish-English or Russian-Turkish-Russian can contact me and I will pass on the details to Oz during working hours. There are many people who are reading this post now ,who can vouch for Ozer's ability.

Big Oz helped us enormously, without his superb translation we would not have been succesful in our appeal when we were initially refused PTP
