friends of ours have a 6 year old villa and have a termite problem in there parquet flooring they have been quoted 2300tl has any one had this type of problem if so how much were you quoted and who did you use.

I think I would be extremely sceptical of the company who are wanting to charge that amount of money.



More to the point though, I worked for many years for a timber and damp proof company, and I know for a fact that just wetting the floor with an insecticide is totally insufficient.



I wondered whether they would have the necessary equipment which actually injects the stuff under pressure into the affected timber.



I think your friend should be asking the company about the methods they use to eradicate the problem.



I certainly have no knowledge of anyone in Cyprus with this equipment, and it would be a long time before you actually discovered that it had not worked, by then you have paid and have no redress whatsoever, as usual.

Termites are not the same as the usual wood borers we get at home. They live in the ground and eradicating them is more akin to getting rid of japanese knot weed. The people at Frog on the main road towards Catalkoy are very knowleageable on the subject.

We had a termite problem in our kitchen, the horrible little things used to come out of the door frame and also through the grout in the floor. We had it treated by the company that Lapta belediye are using. They removed the door frame and also the marble skirting, drilled holes into the concrete and used some kind of chemicle. Hopefully they wont come back again this year but only time will tell. Sorry cant remember how much we paid but i think it was about 500tl. Are you sure they are termites as it seems too early for them to have started hatching. If you search the forums you should be able to find th old posts from last year with all the details.

Thanks for all the advice.The price quoted was from frog,it includes inside and round the outside of the house drilling and baiting.Plus chemical treatment.2 year guarantee.



Still sounds expensive.
