What with the close proximity of Cyprus to Libya ,there have not been many informed posts on the situation there.

You'd probably get far more comment on Maltese forums. Libya's not exactly close to Cyprus.

IMHO, american & british bombers will favour asking turkey to loan them theyre air bases , turkey will oblige , then britain will block its entry into the eu , on grounds of occupying NC , you got to laugh your butt off , only 2 countries allowed to run the world ? do what they want ? invade any body that threatens the oil supplies ? sell weapons to any body that will buy them , but turn theyre backs on the real problems of the world ?

message 1: the problem is you are asking for 'informed' posts on the situation in Libya. You'd be lucky to get an informed post from someone actually living there.

Message 5 says it all- proper informed information is not really coming out of Libya.

Sky News has ben well and truly seduced by Saif Gadaffi that they are reporting rubbish and are an embarrasment to decent journalism, they should get out and see whats really happening and be with the 'Rebels'

As the crow (seagull) flies it is circa 1800km from here to Tripoli.

they cant invade yet , theyve got to get garantees from the EU , plus compensation needs to be thrashed out with greece for keeping troops in trnc for 37 years keeping the peace and stopping the murderous b@@st@{@s commiting genocide , this all has to be paid for , bullets dont come cheap you know , and how much will it cost to convert all those signsin ikea ? turkey need to look at the bigger picture before they engage in a 2 bit fiasco , leave that stuff to the yanks and theyre lapdogs the good old uk ?

We are getting very good coverage of the Libyan situation here in Australia, with ABC having its own reporter in amidst the fighting. Having said that, all that seems to be known at present is that the rebels (freedom fighters?) have had some setbacks but are re-grouping and moving forward, while Gaddafi's forces have superior weaponry and are now fighting back.

Looking at entirely another aspect; one can only wonder how much money laundering is going through Cyprus by 'agents' of Gadaffi & Murbarak, together with their 'favoured entourages'!

The precedent has been set for this caper many times before - e.g., the break up of the Soviet Union and the 'Milosevic' debacle, exposed by the 'Financial Times'.

Remember all the " homes abroad programmes " on TV telling you all the great places to buy a nice house at a good price !

All over North Africa and the Gulf, in FACT most of the countries that have appeared as regular lead items on the news recently !

While at the same time telling you not to buy in North Cyprus !

What a load of******!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the oil fields are set on fire bits of Libya could become close to everywhere not just Cyprus. Not sure about Ginger Rodgers but a Red Adair (or is it Fred Astaire ?) might be needed.

Good opportunity to get a cheap property in Libya now. In ten years time it'll be the new Spain.
