We shall be visiting Cyprus next montth, staying in Larnaca Bay, and hope to cross the border into North Cyprus to visit the walled city of Famagusta and possibly Salamis. We will not have a car but can easily get to Agia Napa or Deryneia by bus.

I'm not sure of how to get across the border, can one take a taxi from the south that will go to Farmagusta and/or Salamis or would we need to walk through the border crossing and then take a taxi in North Cyprus? If so would taxis easily be available over the border?

Any help, suggestions would be appreciated.

There is no cheap way.

Some taxis will cross the border for you - expensive.

Or, get a bus to the border Route 708 from Protaras.

Walk over (don't forget your passport) and phone for a taxi

at the TRNC end.

The border guards will help you order one.

You would be better off doing the proper tour, for example - http://www.redbuscyprus.com/TheTours.aspx from the south to north, so you don't get ripped off!

Cross through the British forces base at Ayios Nicolaos and you're in Famagusta city in minutes.

Re : Msg 4,

I don't think it's a staggering distance, rather a long way to walk . I would pre-arrange the taxi.
