Hi i am moving to Bellapais in August and was going to buy a new mobile phone as i lost all my camera software however I wonfder if i need to wait til i get out there as will mine become defunct when i relocate b any advice greatly rec'd. thanks

Hi chriswife,

All you need to do is buy a new sim card for your phone when you arrive.

If it's not unlocked, most of them can be unlocked locally.

I would definately buy before as the phones are inclined to be expensive in TRNC. If you don't want to go to the expense of buying a brand new one, you can ususally get ones that are only 12 months old in good condition or even unwanted new ones as people on contracts can upgrade every 12 -14 months and sell either their old ones or unwanted upgrades. Ebay or some other similar site is pretty good. We bought both our off Ebay and they were in very good condition. As Navek says, as long as they are unlocked which will cost about £20 in UK, you can use any SIM in the phone so all you have to do is buy a SIM card when you move over.

We also have a ground floor 2 bedroomed flat becoming available mid June for rent in Ozankoy which is currently rented by a teacher and her partner. If you are interested it's currently being let through Wise Properties and Lydia is the person we deal with. It's full furnished and is in The Kazafana complex only 5 mins walk from the centre of Ozankoy. It also has a huge communal swimming pool and communal facilities.
