It has been published that 45% of Spaniards under the age of 25 are unemployed, with no current hope of finding work - is this the predicament you find yourself in and the reason you want to leave. You would be much better to explore opportunities in the South [Greek Cypriot] side - not TRNC, because the economy is at an all time low, and getting worse by the day due to failure by an inept government to address and rectify the core issues that are causing the problems. It is, I might add, very difficult to get a *'work permit' for any foreigner - in fact, it was recently reported in the press that the government has declared that no new work permits will be issued to foreigners. You would not be faced with this *obstacle in the South, as RoC is a member of EU - not deservedly, as many EU member states now realise. Nearly all Greek Cypriots that are in business speak English, whereas, in TRNC, he number of Turkish Cypriots able to is much less. Good luck, anyway, Carmen!

Thank you for your post. Actually i currently live in TRNC and have been here for almost 5 years now. I have been applying to jobs in the Greek side, but im trying to apply all around the island, including TRNC. Regarding the work permit, im aware of the complications. In my last job, i fought with the management constantly to provide me with the permit, but never obtained it. Im just trying to find any option at the moment, applying everywhere and asking everyone... be it in RoC or TRNC... :-/

Carmen - my next suggestion would be to make inquiries around the hotels in Paphos regarding a receptionist/accounts position, or as an assistant to the accounts manager, who, likely being a Cypriot, will want a capable assistant to do all his/her work for him/her - this 'expectation' is what RoC Cypriots regard as 'normal'! I guess the situation isn't much different in the North, either! I am sorry to hear how you have been treated as regards your work permit - this is 'normal' behaviour, as well! I don't know if you have a VoiP phone? You can download VoiP 12 from the Internet and pay €10 for 3 months use. With this system [I don't use, or know about Skype], you should get free calls to RoC and Spain.
