A round, shiny old man with delusions of importance who isolated TCs from the outside world for decades. Recently had further health problems - but noticeably Turkey no longer flies him over to his Motherland for medical treatment.

That's pretty much the latest update.

vonny,

First class hospital with no criteria may be a moot point. The fact is Turkey wants nothing to do with Denktas. He represents a bygone age they are trying to distance themselves from.

Zoots,

Do not comment on what you do not know... Turkey sent an air ambulance immediately, it has been on stand buy at the YDU University Hospital from day one ready to fly Rauf Denktas to Ankara if required.

On two occasions teams of six specialist consultants have also been flown over from Ankara by private jet to assess Mr Denktas's condition.

He has also had hospital visits from all the past and present heads of the Turkish army...

I understand that being Greek can sometimes be fustrating for you, but in future please get your facts right before you post your usual shite on this forum..

Vonny,

Dengtash looked after his family all his life meaning his real blood relatives and TMT/UBP. When it came to 74, he distributed the Greek Cypriot lands to all his relatives. To those who had land, he gave very little and took all their rights to their property in the south.

Those who saw through his plans, did not do esdeger, which means now they can get some compensation and their land back from the south eventually.

But for you to say he looked after the interests of the Turkish Cypriots is really a little far fetched.

Don't get me wrong, not everything in the RoC is sweet and roses, they suffered the same fate under their leadership with EOKA making the most gains.

Let's no longer delude ourselves that any of these people on either side had the best interest of their respective populations.

My part of the island? That would be the north - along with my support for all the decent TCs who live there. And for that matter, every decent person anywhere on the island.

Seems you're another assumption merchant. I've spent years seeing off people like you. It's become something of a hobby.

Read my post and you'll see what I said was I said Turkey no longer flies this old stager to his Motherland. As significant a political issue as the many huge political mistakes Denktas made - such as allowing the sale of seized GC property. So it appears I know more about interpretation than you do

"I understand that being Greek can sometimes be fustrating for you, but in future please get your facts right before you post your usual shite on this forum.."

In your own words, do not comment on what you do not know. Last week I was Armenian, this week I'm Greek. Is this what paranoia does to some people? The people on the forum who know me must be having a good chuckle!

Dutch my old man was one of those people who saw through his plans and did not do esdeger. There is plenty more people I know who did the same. What you don't realise is how much land has been stolen from the TCs by UBP when they created the esdeged system.

As to riged ellections in the north that has been going on for decades, and that you were not aware of them? Oh dear me.

Back on topic. I'm proud to have met and interviewed H.E. Rauf R. Denktash, the founding President of TRNC. He's a kind and brave man, who led his people away from an attempt to mass-murder by criminal Greek speaking Cypriots. History, OK, but facts are and remain facts (plenty of books with visions from both sides) and the troubles were NOT started by Cypriot Turks.

I wish Mr. Denktash a speedy and complete recovery!

He is improving and asked to be given a newspaper to read. Dengtash Junior was not sure whether he will be able to read . It sounds as though he is making slow recovery.

What would really be interesting is if he makes a confession before his death to clear up a few things of the past.

AGAIN; people are writing with their feelings rather than facts. I think I need to put the record straight once again - but with no disrespect to anyone, least of all to a dying man, BUT facts are facts.

FACT-1; Either during 1964 or During 1974 when EOKA-B attacked the TCs Denktash chose top be safe in Turkey with all his family members. He was never there to protect anyone from a mass grave! Try Doktor Küçük, who was the true elected TC leader and the greatest fighter/influence for TC's existence and we might get somewhere!

FACT-2; Denktash was never "elected" or "voted in" by the "stupid TCs" as Zoots ignorantly put it. NO OTHER CANDIDATE WAS ALLOWED BY TURKEY - who at the time, ruled over how the elections went in Cyprus! I remember many other candidates, withdrawing before the elections bowing to pressure from Turkey (and their military representatives on the island). DENKTASH NEVER WON AN ELECTİON FOR LEADERSHIP! HE WAS AUTOMATİCALLY ELECTED WITHOUT ANY VOTING!

I do not see any reason why this great man should be disrespected by the like's of zoot's. This thread is not about the politics of Cyprus and is certainly not about Rauf Denktas's leadership status.

It is about the progress of his health, so when ar******s like zoots twist and turn topics to disrespect a sick man........... I am lost for words, what a sad sad sad forum....

Zoots- if your part of the island is the North, what about all the TC owned lands in the South that are now parts of motorways or airports or simply erased from the face of the earth.

I rest my case!

Denktas, who helped form TMT, Turkish Resistance Organization to resist EOKA's struggle to proclaim Enosis was prohibited to enter the island by Greek Cypriots between 1964-68,due to his involvement. However,in 1964, Denktas was smuggled in,from the mainland by boat.He planned to come back and help his people. But the Greek Cypriots caught and arrested him somewhere near Bogaz. To say that Denktas CHOSE to be safe in Turkey with his family members is simply not true

This thread seems to be about Mr Denktas and his presidency, rather than the question of whether he still lives. It may be that bigOz is right and he was never really elected in the true sense of the word, but in my opinion it matters more how he governed than how he was 'elected'. Does his historical footprint contain any quality or value? I wouldn't presume to try to answer that, but I'd guess that there will be some who would.

Perhaps some like Campbell. Unfortunately, Campbell's posts all seem to bear a very diaphanous relationship to the truth, for his preferred method of debate usually descends to spin and ridicule instead of sound argument, due to the totality of his arrogance and the size of his ego ("I've spent years seeing off people like you. It's become something of a hobby.")

Campbell, why is it that you refuse to declare yourself? Do you have family or friends who are Armenian/Greek/Cypriot?

Last week I was Armenian, this week I'm Greek

Rottolover,

From my experience it tends to racists and bigots who base their opinions on someone's race. And considering you appear to have searched far and wide for a woman who would accept you, I'm very surprised.

Have you ever thought I might be a Maronite? ;)

Oh Campbell, ridicule and spin yet again?

Campbell, I'm fairly sure you understand the implication behind a question of your background, but perhaps not. You see, when someone has family or friends of a certain religious, racial, ethnic or cultural persuasion, it burdens their opinions with the weight of one side of a particular bias.

This becomes quite evident when articles or posts by the same person continually contain no balance in facts, but rather a spin towards that one-sided bias. The degeneration of that poster's messages into ridicule and insult is almost a given.

As can be seen by your posts to date....

Rottenlover msg 56: " I'm fairly sure you understand the implication behind a question of your background, but perhaps not."

Actually, you are completely wrong. When people preface their thoughts, answers or questions with the other person's ethnic background then they are instantly switching off from what that person is saying. So, in simple terms:

Act 1, Scene 1: "Zoots" warns on TRNC forums not to buy GC property. Suggests the regime is corrupt and people will be ripped off. Also warns about paying anything to Gary Robb.

Act 1, Scene 2: "Zoots" is called a "GC stooge" and is hounded off the boards by geriatric ranters. Nobody says stuff like that here!

Act 2, Scene 1: Amaranta shocker.

Act 2, Scene 2 Panic on the TRNC forums.

Act 2, Scene 3: The Orams ruling.

Act 2, Scene 4: Panic on the TRNC forums.

Act 3, Scene 1: Memorandums shocker.

Act 3, Scene 2: panic on the TRNC forums.

I was right every time. Maybe you should have listened.

Stonehousepub,

The evidence I have that Turkey does not want anything to do with Denktas is that:

1. They kicked him out of power.

2. They have not taken him to Turkey for treatment - as they always did before.

3. He has contributed to a critical shortage of sheftali in the north that is possibly irreversible.

Zoots you are pathetic.

If anyone could be bothered to go through them one by one all your points are just rubbish, for Act 1 to Act 3 read RoC as well, your only motive is to spread dissent and distrust not to help or inform, in that respect at least 6xm's has some credibility and decency, you do not.

It is about time the authorities here took you in custody...........for your own protection of course............however I understand you are used to that in the UK.

Campbell, we've been over this so many times now, and I really wonder if you're ever going to be struck by the concept of logic, but I'll try once more:

The major problem you have, Campbell, apart from a dreadful predilection for spin and ridicule, is a total lack of any semblance of balance. All...every one... of your arguments is pointed in only one direction. Can you finally understand what I'm trying to shove into your thought process?

No one, I believe, certainly not I, would dream of suggesting things are sweet and dandy in the TRNC. But you fail - in every case - to concede that things are just as bad in the Rest of Cyprus as well!

And as I've also said before, the reason for such imbalance is almost always due to the emotive bias a person has because of who and what his family and friends are...it's a simple fact of life.

Puggers,

I can only guess you were one of those who chose to ignore the warnings. Don't take out your anger on people who gave fair warning. As for MM I've never met the chap but feel sure we sing from EXACTLY the same songsheet. He's just a bit more diplomatic than I am. Erolz, when he's not being Mr Angry, is another whose views I share in some areas.

As for your comments about the "authorities" taking me into custody, so we know you are an enemy of free speech and therefore an enemy of Cyprus. You may support YouTube bans and internet censorship but perhaps that's because you have grown to acquire a taste for the old Turkish truncheon.

Zoots as usual you are wrong, I am very happy indeed here in all respects. I am sure you are very sad about that. I know all about your dubious journalistic history, it is easy to find, a "failed or should that be resigned special constable" that must look good on the CV along with other digressions.

As for being an enemy of Cyprus, you really should take a long hard look in the mirror for that, there is no greater enemy than one as yourself that spreads rumours, lies, disinformation and delierate confusion. If I did not know better I would think you were a useless and ineffective RoC agent.................but there again.............Hallo Hallo...........

Have a word with the TC policeman who keeps an eye on the place (works at HQ Girne) and the senior politician two doors down. Both good friends who (whisper it) don't like carpetbaggers. That's why Zoots has been around for so long and guess who is out on their elbow!

Matey, I come from a democracy where people freely criticise politicians and ex-politicians and comedians make a career out of it. Whereas you sound as if you come from Idi Amin's Uganda where attacking the "great leader" as you call him can get you the chop. Put down the Efes and listen to yourself for a minute. You sound like you come from some fly-blown, tinpot banana republic. Oh, hang on a minute...

Zoots there is democracy and then there is plain common decency. To use a potential life ending medical condition experienced by a man in his 90's as an 'opportunity' to criticise the mans life may be compatible with the former but certainly is not with the later in my view.

Does anybody remember the little stunt Dengtash and the UBP pulled on to the Turkish Cypriots after 74. He offered 2% extra interest on the bank rates for Cyprus Lira. When people wanted to take out their money sometime later, they could only get it out as Turkish Lira at 32 to a Cyprus Lira when Cyprus Lira was 2500 Turkish Liras. They robbed thousands of people for all their savings.

Dengtash helped the cypriots, yeah right. Pushed them into the well got the credit for saving them. Pull the other one, the middle one has bells on it.

official rate in north Cyprus for one Cyprus lira was 36 in 1975!!!

In fact, official exchange rate for Cyprus Lira was 36 for many years after 1974!!!

All savings of people was converted to Turkish lira from this rate...real value was in hundreds in 1975 thousands in later years!!

Turkish Cypriots were robbed of their life savings...

The trouble with some of the johny come latelys is that you have no idea what the TCs have been through. First under the dreaded RoC and then TRNC. You are only the latest victims of this set up, but certainly not the first.

One commented aginst other ones beleifs, who happens to be TRNC citizen, and 'he' retaliated. No different then any other TC would have done with same beleifs, against a 'foreigner'.

A poster who joined on the 10/06/2011 with three posts asking about consistency of moderation on here being supported by a member who joined on the 07/06/2011 with 9 posts and accross multiple threads seems to me a little bit strange to be frank.

Stomehousepub made an implied threat of violence and was not banned. Girderjack99, who joined on the 06/06/2011 made a direct threat of violence and also has not been banned, nor any of those that offered to 'help' with said threat of violence.

If you want to discuss the consistency of moderation then by all means do so, though for such new users it seems a strange thing to start with. Yet you do not seem to offer any consistency yoursleves that I can see, but are targeting one indivdual. Calls for both of them to be banned, or neither would indicated a real interest in consistency. Calls for just one to be banned smacks of something else to me.

Any queries about the moderation of this board should be addressed to Forum Admin directly. Read the forum rules and more importantly understand them.

The board seems to have attracted a few new members that obviously do not believe in reading the rules, let alone understanding them.
