There is a new place opening opposite where the Ozankoy Bookshop used to be. On the corner with a garden at the back and is, I believe, to be called The Corner Bar.

Interesting first post, and interesting name selection, There is defo a lovely new wine bar and bistro opening in Catalkoy, its called Amphora and as stated above its on the end of the row where the Dragon chinese takeaway is, they are currently working on the terrace at the back of it, cant wait for it to open to see if it sells good wines or just the usual stuff found here (some of which is all right before the grumbleweeds start)

Should be something about in the Cyprus Today paper, possibly today's edition or if not, on Saturday. Promises to be something new and exciting. Let's hope Cem, the owner, succeeds

CarrieRBag Cem the owner renting from Hasan Mesutoglu....you seem to be a well informed lady. Is he Turkish or Cyp and I wonder if he had success with a bar here before. I wont be able to visit this new wine bar because that complex is owned by our lying Landowner who ripped all of us off in 2004/5. There was a court order already in place between the builder (the innocent party) and the landowner. He should never have sold this site. Once he got 12 purchasers payments he stopped finishing the site and then the site when up for auction as he did not pay his debt to the builder. He used our money to build that complex and then changed all his assets into other names. The builder and him are now in negotiations to finish the site but want too much money from each purchaser and of course Im sure some of that money will be going into the landowners pocket for the complex and also to pay HIS DEBT to Kibtek of 10k! We were cut off 3 years ago.

Crumbs Babrew that is a little of topic (but I am sorry for all that has happened to you). Cem is Cypriot... a graduate in leisure and toursim, ran a bar in Scotland for quite a while. He has been in the industry for many years and has done all the jobs in a hotel, starting with washing dishes and moving through the jobs to get to know how things work. He seems a very genuine guy. I wish him every success as he is also starting up a wine and whisky club.

It will indeed be offering some finer wines, I believe, for the discerning palette so don’t expect something for nothing. It would be nice to see something a little up the market succeed. Some excellent malt whiskies will be available for sampling and subsequent purchase, should stock allow. The future plans are for some cheese and wine type tastings to promote the products but these have yet to be arranged.

It is located at the right hand end, looking at it, heading into town, of the strip of wooden units noted as “Woodworks” that has the recently opened Dragon Chinese takeaway in Catalkoy. There are plans to have a members wine club and rare malt whisky appreciation society that will also host "special" events.

So this thread - New Wine Bar Ozankoy - has nothing to do with this discussion then? What about the New Wine Bar that started the thread - has it closed since the thread started yesterday or is there no news about it after all?

The Iron work sign on the outside says that the New Wine Bar in Ozankoy is called The Corner House, no sign that it is open yet so maybe still getting set up - lovely garden feature behind stone walls as well. Looks like it will be nice when opened, anyone any further information on this thread????

The corner house will be open soon and is opposite the old Ozankoy Bookshop. Garden looks lovely and shaded and they will apparently be selling fine wines and Tappas (as well as the usual I guess) and will have a deli counter, so sounds really interesting. Looking forward to trying it out, think its opening Saturday.
