I notice that the golf club has just put up its green fees. A great course and lovely staff.....but have the owners not heard of the economic laws of supply and demand???

Maybe they are looking to attract a more 'select' type of client?

Is it not better to keep the fairways full of golfers paying a reasonable rate for a round of golf?

Or just have a few 'well heeled' golfers playing on empty fairways paying premium rates?

Saying that Korenium GC is a quality golf course and 68 GBP. For a round compares favourably to courses similar in the UK or Europe, and much better than the Middle East.

You get what you pay for-the course is in absalout wonderfull condition, never seen it better but having it like that comes at a price, water eletric machinary wages etc.

Of course you can always go to CMC and play at a much reduced price but there is no comparison.

Hippo;

very astute of you to see the difference between a club that's not viable if the owner decides he wants out

and one that though modest in the extreme pays its own way.

Doc. Billybob its true, i battle to play off 8. especially playing against the ''Bandits'' who have high handicaps, but shoot 77's, 78's in comp's, take your money n prizes with a smile and say they had a good day. lol

But as long as the 19th is serving cold beer i'm not bothered.

Hippo;

there are few things more pretentious than people who constantly refer to themselves in the third person.

The facilities at Korineum are wonderful

The thread is about putting prices up when demand is at its lowest.

Or to put it another way; typical Cypriot logic.

For the record, my eyes are blue.

I started this thread having seen the green fee increase on Korineum's website. However, played 9 holes there yesterday (Sunday) and they were still charging the 'old' price!! Incidentally, course in first-class condition.

Msge 23 - yes they will provide discounts for groups email info@korineumgolf.com

To others commenting about price, this is a product like anythiing else, you have Burgerking or The Ivy, Ford or BMW, the management have set the price based on its international market. Local players are very welcome but, outside of members, the main revenue stream comes from european winter golfers. As a matter of interest Weddings are big business at Korineum!

coffer, mess 24.

i am a keen golfer and many pals of mine go on golfing holidays, but the trnc is expensive to get to from england and only has 1 course (albeit a very good one).

My pals prefer either spain or portugal - cheaper and quicker to get to and several courses easily accessable.

none of them would consider coming to the trnc.

Msge 25, everyone has a choice, the Algarve is not cheap to play any more, Spain is not a place I've played golf so I can't comment. Yes of course there are cheap flights to Spain, Portugal etc. However, Korineum has some very good deals for scandinavian golfers including flights. If you want to play one of the most challenging courses in the mediterranean region then you won't find better than Korineum. I played Aphrodite Hills on Friday and although nice its not as challenging as Korineum. Prices down south are more expensive than the TRNC for golf, that is why Korineum gets significant numbers of southern based players coming over and staying at Korineum, choices!

Hi Billy sorry it has taken so long to respond, I will send an email shortly we can then arrange a game, I too am off 8 and my wife Gail off 27, now she is a true bandit and a rapidly improving golfer unlike myself as I'm in freefall.

Back on thread now, Korineum Golf and Country Club is excellent, and is without doubt better value for money in comparision to most clubs that I have played.

I have to agree with Hippo (don't like too) and Coffer that the course is excellent, TOUGH !!!!! you better believe it !!.

newscoop,

I don't agree that demand is at it's lowest, I can assure you that the numbers playing on a daily basis is ever increasing, and if you take on board what coffer is saying the pay and play and indeed membership is not where the club is making it's money.

Coachie,

The Belfry !! the price you pay reflects the standard off the three courses, personally I wouldn't give you tuppence for any off them. Mediocre at best, IMO, but no denying Historically the importance off the venue.

Korineum beats it hands down for the pleasure off walking and playing through a golfing paradise.

Florida, same old same old Layout, seen one seen them all !!! IMO,

And yes have played many many times in Florida and The Belfry.

Korineum over priced !! no way.IMO.

As a matter off interest in the four years Korineum has been open, I have played approximately 600 rounds of golf, only three out off that 600 were incomplete due to weather conditions, now thats what I call value for money.

Perhaps the course has gotten the better of you !!! it certainly has me on many occasions.

For us that live in the TRNC, Korineum Golf and Country Club has to be the Premier sporting and social facility available. Bar None !!! IMHO.

We have tried several times to get a discounted price for our society golf days with no joy. We normally have up to 30 players.

gotheyips..I dont deny it is a good course and in very good condition,I only hope they dont hit the buffers because of their pricing. You can only put up your prices before people start objecting. Golf is supposed to be for every one not the select few who can afford it. My mate has just come back from Spain and tells me they are having to offer good deals to attract people to play.He and his wife and buggy 68euros,thats what I call a fair price.Time will tell if their policy is right....
