I see there is a few threads about golf on here.

I plan to take up golf when i move there soon.

Are there shops to buy golf equipment in girne,or is it advised to bring your own.

I have only really done pitch and put a few times a year so far,and i want to play most days on a full size course.

Will they allow a novice to use the main course's straight away and what would the fees be.

thanks

Good luck with the golf. The courses here are really good and I'm sure you'll get on well.

I have a full set of clubs and bag that i would like to sell for 200 quid. If your interested just message me.

Happy Swinging

There are only two courses on the North Side. One near Guzelyurt, the other a brilliant course, the Korinium.

The course is not for beginners, but there is an Academy course, where you can play 3,4, and 5 holes. There is also a driving range. Bring all you own golf stuff, anything you can lay your hands on, gloves, balls, golf bag, trolley, clubs. The club does sell golf stuff but it is quite expensive.

Korineum has a very good professional who will help you in every way, just give them a ring. Yes bring your own stuff, however, the club does sell everything but at a rather large price. Very well run, professional club. CMC at Guzelyurt is a great course but offers not facilities for the novice.

Like I suggested, go round the par 3, 4, and 5 holes first and see how you cope? If you strike the ball any distance straight you are off to a good start. You don't have to be Tiger Woods to play the course, but if you have fair golfers behind you they may not be too happy :(

Steve ''DO NOT'' buy catalogue sets of clubs! Go to any well known pro-shop or see a golf professional at any local golf club, explain your circumstances, they will give you good advice on what clubs to buy.

Im glad you said that.

I may just wait till i get there,it will cost me the difference in excess baggage anyway.

Steve if you are in the UK buy where you are and bring them with you, it will more than offset the prices you will pay here.

Check out 44's for sale section

There's always well priced clubs suitable for beginners.

That's good advice from stockiefan and Hoylemiller,

another alternative I would suggest, is to wait until you get to the TRNC or ask now on the forum if anyone has a decent set off clubs for sale.

There are normally several sets going at anyone time, by the way this is not a plug as I have none for sale.

Good luck with your golf, contact Michael Jones PGA Professional at Korineum he will put you right.
