Has anyone renewed their British Passport here recently ? I have to renew mine and was wondering how long it takes.

you need to go onto British high commission web site

download new application form, and follow all the instruction

take all documents to British high commission in Lefkosia, NB you can only pay by credit card!!!

my passport took 2 weeks to return, they do say allow upto 8 weeks

Thanks for that problem is i dont have a credit card,do you think they would accept someone elses card if they go with me?

Clara Yes they will but the card holder must sign the forms. Warning, only open for passports on Wednesday and Friday 9- 30AM until 12- 30PM. Was there this morning.

As long as you have all the paperwork it is very straight forward, also they will ask you to fill in a DHL form for your passport to be returned to the high commission, they will phone you when it is ready to collect.

As it has been said you can use a friends credit card, it will be easier for you to take this person with you to save some trips.

It is very easy and quick nothing to worry about

Apparently you have to have a new type of passport photo. This is different to the normal one and is full facial. Go to any photo shop in Girne and tell them it is for a British passport.

It is worth bearing in mind that for anyone who has a work permit and therefore cannot part with their passport it is acceptable for the High Commission to take a copy of the passport and they send this to Spain so that the worker can keep their passport. This information is on the British High Commision website.
