Hi i am travelling to the TRNC in 2 weeks and i need to visit the ASAL Şube in Lefkosa to get an Exit Visa/Military bit of paper to say i dont have to do national service as i am only a tourist staying less than 60 days. Has anyone had an experience of doing this? Do they speak English? Im slightly concerned, as i do not speak turkish and im not sure if i need to fill out any forms in turkish. If i do need to speak turkish i will have to find a translator from some where, so any information will be much appreciated! Many thanks Ben

Check the search engine on this site as you will find lots of info from previous postings. The answer is yes several people speak English. You need to visit the police first in Nicosia to get a list of all your entry s and exits into Cyprus. Even if this is your only ever visit. You then take this document together with id to the AS and they give you a paper that you can use to leave. The whole process can take a few hours or a whole day. http://www.mucahit.net/asal/askeralma_ENG.htm for info You can email them on: admin@guvkk.net

If you contact the Turkish Cypriot Representatives office in London. There are people who can explain the whole process to you. Don't worry thousands do it every year.
