If you are being serious about the cockroach problem, there seems to be little information about what type of cockroaches exist in TRNC, I wasnt even aware that there were different types. However it seems that there a 3500 species. Below are 2 links to cockroaches in Cyprus:

Thanks for posting the info.

The first article is great and goes a long way to explaining the Cypriot dislike of dogs. Still difficult behaviour to accept in some cases, but more understandable.

3 sizes of cockroaches - large, extra large and the ones found in Cyprus - joking apart if you have problems the local council will come round to your place and sort them out for free, at least they do in Alsancak

If you watch the Hotel rwanda the Tootsie tribe called the hutu tribe cockroaches, in which they exterminated in large quantities, i wissh they would deal with some of the liying thieving blackmailing cockroaches in the TRNC in the same way, the country then would be the beautiful island that it is ??

The local Belly office has been and "done" our house re cockroaches. The come around this time of the year, every year, without us calling them out. However I did see one on the terrace last night - in this case it was the longer, thinner version which can fly, rather than the shorter fat version which can run and scamble around like a bat out of hell.

Tale of a 6 feet tall cockroach

... A man was sitting at home one evening, when the doorbell rang.

When he answered the door, a 6 foot tall cockroach was standing there.

The cockroach immediately punched him between the eyes and scampered off.

The next evening, the man was sitting at home when the doorbell rang again.

When he answered the door, the cockroach was there again. This time, it punched him, kicked him and karate chopped him before running away.

The third evening, the man was sitting at home when the doorbell rang. When he answered the door, the cockroach was there yet again.

It leapt at him and stabbed him several times before running off. The gravely injured man managed to crawl to the telephone and summoned an ambulance.

He was rushed to intensive care, where they saved his life. The next morning, the doctor was doing his rounds.

He asked the man what happened, so the man explained about the 6 foot cockroach's attacks, culminating in the near fatal stab
