3.0 TL is the expected target. If Turkey commits any madness towards Syria,I can see the pound being 4 or 5 TL!

its not the £ its lira the Turkish government are allowing it to drop for 2 reasons one to help exports and secondly to slow down imports ie imported foods and luxury items which will start and cost more as they will be bought in another currency not lira

Since exchange rates continually change you have to be lucky in getting to a Doviz at the optimum time. The Doviz will change rates probably several times an hour to obtain it's margin (profit).

One will never obtain the exchange rate published by the financial institutions on the net.

Currently the the exchange rate for Tl is decreasing versus the £ and looks likely now to fluctuate between 2.70 to 2.90 against the £ for a while. This is my guess because no-one actually knows any different not even the "experts". The probability for a return to near Tl 3.00 to £ is most unlikely !

Just came down to 2.90 but certainly not 2.81.

Mislead by someone?

Beware! It can be in some markets or restaurants.

You can make money on that.Buy it from 2.81 and sell it for 2.90 .

9 kuruş on each pound.

0.90tl on ten pounds.

9 tl on 100 pounds.

90 tl on 1000 pounds

900 tl on 10000 pounds! Sounds nice, eh?

900 TL is almost 300 pounds.

I call it quick money...

Andrew 4232. On the contrary. The Turkish Central Bank has decreased interest rates to avoid further depreciation of the Lira....."Cyprus Today".

Current interbank rate now Tl 2.847 to £. Of course you won't get that at a Doviz. More probably circa Tl2.82. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business/market_data/currency/11/11679/default.stm

Bookworm, where are you getting those prices from, ? as it is 2.83 on Bloomburg as i write. It was 2.93 on Bloomberg yesterday, which is normally between 1 and 2 points less at the Dovis shops, i got 2.89 yesterday when it was showing 2.905.

As it for it ever getting to 4 or 5 , please behave.!!

All local TV channels in North Cyprus have these rates on their screens.

Why would I lie anyway?

Bloomberg doesn't cover all the things happening around.

Bloomburg is on Didi-turk channel 30, its the Turkish Bloomburg and covers all world currencies inc ours, have a look at the top of the page in the middle of the screen and it does the dollar stg euro etc, all linked to the lire.

What tv channel you on ? id like to look, im not saying ya fibbing. But i think Bloomberg will be nearer the mark.

Your quick money figures are interesting, but surely if you buy for 2.81 and sell for 2.90 you are losing.

Should it not be the other way round, ie buy high, sell low?

You earn only if you start the process by buying the pound.

If you start with buying TL off course you loose...

The way I am saying is this :

Give 2.81 TL and buy one pound.

Sell one pound and get 2.90The difference is 0.09 TL=9 kuruş

Remember 1 TL= 100 kurush

I thought you should always buy at 2.5 to the pound then sell and make a profic by changing back when the rate went back to 2.2 ?

OK Bookworm I see what you mean.

I am looking at it from the view point of starting with Sterling then buying TL.
